Dell E2209WC - Power LED Flash

Hello, first time poster. Would love some help trying to get this monitor working, so glad to find this forum for help with this kind of stuff.

Dell E2209WC, as soon as the power cable is plugged in the Power LED starts to flash on and off. I don't know if my brain is playing tricks on me, but it looks like the backlight of the screen very faintly turns on and then off in sync with the power led, but very hard to notice.
Here are the pictures. I couldn't notice anything too bad. The brown caps on power board seem a tad "bulgy" to me, but my co-worker said they usually pop/crack open when bad.

Let me know if you need to know anything else, would really like to get this working

Almost the same shot as in the last picture can you take one showing flat across the caps. If you unplug the main board from the power supply what does the power led do.
    when you switch on.
Do you have a multimeter and soldering equipment

      Read the attached
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=E2209WC

Be aware that the reference to the two "fuses" on the back may not be totally correct.
They look to be zero rated resistors often used as links or jumpers. Anyway you can test for continuity.
The last post in that thread is by retiredcaps - after you have read through the thread read the link in his post where he says start at post 19.

Thank you for the reply, Unfortunately the power button / LED strip plugs into the main board. I have multimeter and soldering equipment.

Edit: Thanks, I will read the posts

Caps look ok (not that that means much) just not obviously bad.
First thing to check is the High Voltage on the Big Cap
This should power up without the main board connected as soon as you plug in.
Set your meter on 600VDC and very carefully check the voltage on the cap. Try and hold it for a few seconds to see if it varies.(if you have crocodile clips for the meter use them) Do not touch any other parts -heatsinks or anything. Then switch off then plug in the main board and do the test and again when you have pressed the on button.
Do this very carefully could be 200- 400 volts.

Re: Dell E2209WC - Power LED Flash

I appreciate your responses, thanks. I will try and work up the courage to test the capacitors. I did notice that when I disconnect the LCD cable/inverter cables the power/main board seem to function fine, even letting me turn it off and on via the power button. When everything is connected as it should be as soon as the power cable is put in the power LED flashes, if I hit the power button the LED still flashes.

Edit: So when the LCD video cable is plugged in the unit just flashes its LED in a kind of "error mode"
I disconnected it and plugged in just the screen inverters to the power board, and despite a little hissing the backlight lights up grey.
So I assume it seems to be isolated with the LCD/LCD cable/Mainboard

              Hmmm .....

Those are Elite capacitors, all those secondary caps should first be replaced.

I see at least 3 caps with domed tops. They are sitting inline next to the yellow power transformer.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                  by PantherDave
                  Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Dell XPS 9380 No Power - After providing 3VALW and 5VALW once, they persist - still no power-up
                  by seppde
                  Hello everyone,
I've recently gotten my hands on a defective XPS13 9380. I will attach a zip of the schematics and boardview.
My first discovery on the Board was that the reverse current Diode PD103 of the 1st USB-C was blown.
Nothing to worry about, the board got 3 USB-C ports which support Power/Charging. On I go.
Next I inspected the power-rails to see why the diode blew up and found a short on the 3V3 rail which I traced back to the Power-IC for the LCD (UZ2). I desoldered it and the very low-ohmic short is gone. I checked on the LCD-connector that there's no short...

Dell XPS 13 9370 Laptop, No power, not charging
                  by rob_hen
                  Hello!

This is my first post for help, and I am quite newer to board repair, so bear with me.

I have this board here (LA-E671P), with no power, and doesn't charge. No lights come on when plugged in.

After visual inspection of the board, U22 is obviously blown up. This is the for backlight, and there is no shorts present after removing the chip and replacing.

There is 3 USB C ports to power this board, USB 1 gives 20V, while 2 and 3 only give 5V.

My observations using USB 1 at 20V (0.075A draw on Ammeter, slowly drops from 0.136A)...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
