It looks like a Diode, is the non-band side connected to the RED wire B+ input? It is used to protect the circuits incase some hooks it up with wrong polarity applied to the Red/black power cables.

I believe it is a 7A fusible resistor

Put the meter in Diode mode and test it.

Here is a chinese?/Japanese?/Korean? badcaps site

            http://bbs.pigoo.com/thread-25035-1-1.html

It is regarding a VA720?? and mentions a fuse SG7A

I wonder who they blame for the bad cap production?

Perhaps a bit more plausible is this result of a search
"SG7A Fuse" I have looked at NTE site but no mention.
I guess obsolete - perhaps NTE over a co SG? singapore?

If that is 7A fuse, that is a lot of Amps for 17" monitor.

Re: What is soldered to cap

7A may have been chosen to improve reliability; fuse could be carrying only about ~3.5A. Still a lot for a 17".

Recapped Va720 works great for an old monitor.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    by jinu_j
                    Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                    1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                    2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                    3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                    4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Look for the resistor value in the BenQ G922HDAL monitor's power supply
                    by Safrilhg
Hello guys, I had a problem where I didn't know the value of the burnt SMD resistor in the power supply circuit of the BenQ G922HDAL monitor.

In one of the parts, there is a burnt SMD resistor which leads to the LD7560GS IC as shown in the picture below.

How to determine the appropriate SMD resistor value for this condition? Thank You...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...
