Re: Dell 2408wfpb
Hi - What voltages do you get on the connector to the main board?.
Measure with meter on 200v DC to start then reduce if none are over 20v for more accuracy - use a ground screw for black probe. All boards should be connected for the test
Can you quote the board numbers- both boards- cant read them
Was the writing anything useful BLON PSON PWR and so on that might give us a clue.

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
I tested the caps in parallel with an esr meter and they all test within spec. Are you able to test caps in parallel/circuit like this, or do you have to remove a leg because they are in parallel?Leave a comment:

I will see if I still have the 2408 at the recycle place to do some voltage readings.Leave a comment:

No when I hit the power button, voltage does not change.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
What I am trying to find out if that voltage on the that cap goes up to 400Vdc or not when you hit the power switch, that will tell me if the PS_ON circuit is working or not, the Monitor may show dead screen, but the PS_ON may be working.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
OK, when the unit is off, you should have about 165Vdc and when you turn on, it should have about 400Vdc as the PFC circuits kick in. That is what you are getting?Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
.....Also use working equipment, 1st meter was an el cheapo that was bad. I measure 165 across main filter. Ac with correct polarity on cap measures 370v.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
I agree with jetadm123, 120Vac input and you only getting 140Vdc at the main DC filter cap. Try measuring a new 1.5V batteries and see what you get, if it is OK, then put the meter in AC mode and measure the AC ripple on that main DC cap and tell us the reading.
By the way, this power supply has PFC circuits, so when the monitor is on the voltage on that big cap should be about 400Vdc.

Tested both fuses, they test good. and voltage coming into power board is 120Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
what the output voltages should be to the video board. Any suggestions?
I can see some faint writing on the back of the board - where the sockets are is that not the voltages?Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
If you're reading 140VDC across the main cap, that's way too low. 120VAC x 1.414 = 170VDC. Have you tried checking the AC voltage at your outlet? It should be ~ 115-120VAC. Be careful, as it's high voltage.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2408wfpb
Picture 1 top right corner is an orange torpedo - is it a fuse - can you test it?
There is another on on pic 3 a white rectangle right hand side next to the cap.Leave a comment:

Dell 2408wfpb
Dell 2408wfpb shows no signs of power. No lights on power button, screen backlight doesn't fire.
I have tested power coming into the board. Main filter cap rated at 150Uf @450 tests at 140 ~ 1.4X120v. IC601, which i assume is smps has voltage going to VCC it and is stable. I cant find a schematic to show what the output voltages should be to the video board. Any suggestions?
Also, sorry for the blurry pictures.Tags: None

by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

by master3112I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:
Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.
The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...-

by F R 2568Hello all,
this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.
I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:
If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):
When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

by diamonI have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.
Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

by lalle-Hello!
I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www... - Loading...
