    Samsung P2370 Syncmaster, no power

Good day, all. Been lurking for a week, trying to figure out what may be wrong with a friends P2370 monitor, but I thought I'd finally ask for assistance.

It was working fine, until one day last week he turned on his computer and the monitor powered up, but no screen appears - neither a test screen (when no DVI cable is plugged in), nor a screen from my laptop (the Samsung does get detected fine by Win7, and I can clone/extend my desktop to it, but nothing ever appears). The flashlight test doesn't show any picture at all, so it's not just a problem with the backlight (although based on other statements made here that may or may not work all the time)...

I'm not seeing any issues with caps (ie. bursting/leaking), and the fuse (F301, a 5A Littelfuse if their datasheets are correct) shows okay (a continuity test comes up ok, multimeter set to 200 Ohm comes up with 0, not infinity) from what I can tell.

What else do I need to check? This monitor has it's transformer external to the monitor on the power brick, so at least it cleans up the guts of the monitor a bit...

I can tell that 12V is coming across to the inverter section, so it is getting power - I guess I can check if the CCFL's are broken/dead, but that requires ripping apart the monitor even further, eep!

I will put up some pictures tomorrow, if that's okay.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Karth

Re: Samsung P2370 Syncmaster, no power

    Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

    Examples of what is needed

It will be useful if you can say a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

On the inverter input plug ,where you measured the 12v power, there is always a ground, and normally two more inputs ,,one for Dim/Bri/Adjust, and one which should switch the inverter on WHEN a signal is present from the PC,this should be in in the order of 2-4 volts DC,so you can measure that as well, and if it is there,When the PC signal is ON, then the problem is definitely the Inverter Board OR the backlights, the latter you can eliminate by using good test ones if you have them

Did you try reseating the cable to the panel -lvds - both ends. If it is a flat cable clean the ends as well.

          Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
          by soopacrucial
          Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...

test active pfc power with lamp test
          by khelane
          Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
          Is there a way...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off
          by Journey11
          Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Samsung BN44-00262A H37F1-9SS power supply help finding blown value components!
          by cheeky2
This Samsung combined power supply and inverter was replaced a while ago from a Samsung 37inch LE37B530P7W TV. However I would like to repair this one.
I have replaced the Mosfets Q1820 and Q1821 ( FDPF7N50U) which were both blown and the fuse FM802S. The schematic for this power supply that is attached doesn't relate to this power supply as the driving transistors and diodes are D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 are nowhere on the schematic!
Does anyone know what the components for D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 should be? I ask as I did change the Mosfets...
