Chimei 221D, very faint screen image.

Hi, first post here. Just want to say this looks like a kick-ass community, thanks for existing!

    On to my issue...

I have a desktop Chimei CMV 221D monitor here that's giving me problems.

Here are its symptoms: When turning on it blinks grey for a moment before displaying a very very dark and faint image of my desktop. If I try to turn it on and off for some time, ~20 minutes, eventually it'll display a perfectly fine picture, incrimentaly getting brighter until it does.

    Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum- Please update the mains voltage in your profile.
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

    Example

It will be useful if you can say a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.

It sounds like it could be failing capacitors- they often work a bit better when they are warm. Once you get it to bits one test you can do is to heat some of the capacitors with hair dryer. However it could be other problems
    - the pictures will help.

Did you read this https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9734 starts off virtually the same as yours.

        Hi folks

Like the title says, Initially the device didn't have image, turned it was a backlight connector problem. I shone light into the LCD there was clear image, only dark

After soldering new BL connector, the backlight works perfectly. Here is the big F up. During plugging lcd connector, I bent some pins unknowingly.

Put it back together, turned it on, surprised, backlight is on but there is no image now. Well, sort off. I i see carefully there is faint image resembling normal one, but only on right part on the screen albeit really hard to make it out....

        Hi guys
I'm trying to fix this laptop screen

Basically the owner is a computer shop and they brought it to me with two screens. They said the repair shop they use could not fix it, so I thought i would try to see if I am better than their current repairer!

OK so I have the original screen which works but has lines across the bottom quarter of the screen

I have the replacement screen, which they fitted and it worked. They then put the laptop on one side for a couple of weeks until they found a buyer. When they showed it to the buyer, the screen would...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
