Gateway FPD1975W only works in safe mode

I recently replace the caps on this Gateway FPD1975W. It was not powering on at all. After replacing the caps it would power on and lose the signal as windows began to load. It would go into safe mode and work fine. If I uninstalled the ATI video driver and used a generic video driver it would work fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled the ATI driver and it worked until I attempted to raise the resolution over the 800X600 or attempted to change the color from 16 bit to 32 bit. The installation defaulted as a plug and play monitor at 800X600 16 bit color. I had to uninstall and reinstall the video driver to get it to work again.

I tried the monitor on a second computer with the same result

I then tried an analogue VGA cable with a DVI adaptor and it worked fine. It detected as a plug and play monitor and defaulted to the correct 1440X900 Resolution 32 bit color.

    Additional information.

    I replaced the following caps
    4 x Rubycon 220uF 25v 8mm ZLG Series
    5 x Rubycon 470uF 25v 8mm PX Series

I accidentally ordered 470uF 25v 8mm caps instead of 470uF 25v 10mm. I installed them anyway. Can this be the problem and or could it lead to any other issues if not this one?

    Thank you in advance.

Did you replace any of the caps on the main board?
My GAteway 2185 had 3 bad caps on the main board as well as the bad ones on the power supply/inverter board.
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

No, I only replaced the caps on the power supply.

Some new information: The monitor works not only when in safe mode but also in VGA mode, normal mode with generic VGA adapter drivers installed, and works perfectly plugged in with a VGA cable and DVI adapter. With the VGA cable and DVI adapter the monitor even defaults to a generic monitor driver but the correct resolution (1440X900), refresh (60hz), and color (32 bit). I also installed the correct DVI inf file and loaded the correct drivers for the monitor. Now it lists the correct monitor drivers installed but not the correct resolutions--plugged in DVI. Further research suggests that the issue is a corrupt EDID EEPROM on the DVI side. I supposed it may have corrupted when the caps popped. Thank you for your suggestion.

        Hanns.G Hi221 Monitor - Works For A Second & Then Blank Display
        by RetroComputingGrotto
I've got a Hanns.G Hi221 Monitor that works for a moment and then the display goes off but the power LED indicator remains on. If you power it off and back on again it does the same thing, it comes on and then the display goes blank. From a cold start it takes 10 seconds or so before the display goes blank but if you turn it off and then back on again after it already being on it goes blank a lot quicker so I'm assuming something is getting hot which is causing the display to go off.

I've uploaded a video of it happening on YouTube:

        I've taken the monitor...

        VisionQuest 24" monitor
        Product name: VQL-24WD
        Model: 1,050
        Manufactured: July 2009

Problem: Works sometimes. When on, stays on until screen or laptop are turned off. Restarting can take weeks.

Background: Bought new around 2010. Used for 2-3 years, then had problems, stopped using. Sat around until a few months ago. Plugged it in to laptop and it worked! Used it for around a month at a time, a couple of times. However, when screen or laptop went to sleep or laptop turned off, then turned on again, monitor was dead. (I kept laptop on and...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Asus G15 5980HX - 6800M - No Display on Laptop - HDMI/Display Port external monitor works fine. Fried Component.
        by amuse619
        Hello!
Looks like I fried something when my EDP cable got squeezed on the hinge. I replaced the cable but still no display. Laptop works fine with external monitor connected through HDMI and Display Port-USB C port. I took it apart and I see a burnt component. Can anyone help me identify what this component is? I tried to use schematics for another G15 but it does not match on the amount of pins and size. I attached pictures. The component has a label on it - (21A29)

        Laptop is a Asus G15 Advantage Edition 2021 Laptop Ryzen 9 5980HX - 6800M...
