    Kortek KT-2914DF

Computer display of sorts (Kortek KT-2914DF)

It's attached to a 'Fast 'n Furious' video game.

Took far too long diagnosing the fault - no raster - as I assumed a catastrophic failure of the smokey type.
Found several high ESR caps including the one I fudged a while ago - these chassis have quite good caps except for C118 on the CRT heater supply - it fails very quickly and gives a dim display - I fudged it by hanging a cap off the neck board rather than take the chassis out as it's not easy to get out.

Put the chassis back in and now I can barely see a raster - crank up G2 and I can (sort of) see the menu - contrast/brightness at max - I clicked through the menu and noticed that colour temperature was 6500K rather than 9300K - changed it and 'bingo' raster back to normal.

Checked the other unit and both colour temperatures provide a good picture.

Anyone got any idea which chip controls colour temperature ???

I tried setting a user colour temperature but you can only access the green channel.

I'm asking as I'm a bit snowed under with repairs - got a Sanwa which caught fire !

    Ta.

    Re: Kortek KT-2914DF

Got into the Factory menu by powering up with 'UP' selected on the remote board and can now access the full Colour Temperature menu where I can set a 'user' CTemp.
Looks like the CTemp look up table has been corrupted leaving red & blue at zero and green not doing a lot.
At least if I lose the table for 9300K I can set a user Colour.

AcuRite 5 in 1 temperature sensor replacement repair
      by CapLeaker
      Got a new victim:

AcuRite 5 in 1 Iris outdoor weather station not updating the temperature / humidity anymore. The original sensor is a SHT21. Also there are identical other sensor manufacturers. I chose the HTU21D to replace the original SHT21. Both have identical specs. I've had two failure modes with these sensors.
A: outside temp stuck at -40? It's cold here at times in Canada, but not that cold!
B: stuck at some temperature and maybe updating once in 12 hrs or so.

Easy solution is to go to AcuRite website and purchase the sensor. Right?...

Temperature to remove chips from motherboard
      by asdas09
What temperature with the heat gun should be use to remove large and small chips from the laptop and mobilephones motherboard? My problem is that the chips not easily remove from the motherboard, example 380°C degrees. I don't know if there is a difference with the devices that the temperature is not stable with them even it shows the right temperature, what should it be? I don't know if I should use higher temperature but the risk of destroying other components?

I have device Sugon 202. I'm used also normal flux and rosin flux.

      ISL95880HRTZ desoldering temperature
      by Dreigas
      Hello,

I bought from China ISL95880HRTZ (3+1+1 Voltage Regulator with Expanded ICCMAX Register Range Supporting IMVP8 CFL/CNL CPUs) chip, which I think is not the original one, but anyway, I tried to resoldering it with a 380C hot air station. Seems soldering is pretty good, but the laptop doesn't work (it worked before, but still had some problems with power delivery).
Is there any big chance, that they sent me two fake ISL95880HRTZ chips or did I just use too big temperature for desoldering? I will try with another chip, but I can't find any info about the maximum desoldering...

      9V relay temperature 40C
      by jm1234
Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...

EuropAce EWC 3108 Wine Chiller - Seems like no temperature sensor input
      by beetle1303
Received this dual doors dual temperature control wine chiller with some unusual issues:
      1) On powered up, all the electronics seemed to be working properly - lights, temperature settings, current temperature, etc, all displayed correctly. But sometimes both zones will get chilled, sometimes upper zone only, and sometimes lower zone only. The temperature displays will show the correct temperature as it chilled (I placed a stand-alone thermometer inside and they compared correctly)
      2) However, the chilling does not stop at the set temperature.
      3) When both zones are chilling,...
