TC158R , Sony cass deck schematic please

Hi all

This unit was working apart from noisy capstan motor .

Popped off the back cover to clean brushes & lubricate it .

When tested again it ran for a short while , then no power to deck .

Check your work- either you didn't put it back together properly or there is a (new) broken connection, bad solder joint, cable connector etc.

Sometimes working on the motor can cause a short with the built-in servo board or brushes etc. You could try disconnect the motor and see if the unit powers up, or too late and a fuse popped.

Suspect a safety resistor has popped somewhere .

Really impressed with schematic quality , considering original only available on on paper manual .

Q401 , type 2SD809-K , which is part of the capstan drive network found to have an O/C B - E junction .

Replaced using the slightly more powerful BD139 .

Motor functions now restored
