Sony DE-425 volume motor/knob

So, I had it in the living room but the remote control for the volume started slowing down and eventually starting and stopping.

I got the motor out, think I broke a trace but there is enough exposed on it I can probably blob the lead to it

Also, I can't find the damn knob. I'll get there when I get there

Anyways, here is the potentiometer/stepping motor

It has an 8x3 pins, and I can't find a replacement, only ones that are single row (8x1)

Interesting. Searching for the model with 8x3 rows show it's for "six channel", and the 100KAX2 says for stereo, like this amp. I wonder if they used this volume board for a number of receivers, some 6ch, 4ch (quadraphonic), and stereo like this one, and just used the same pot for all the different models. Makes me wonder if an 8x1 will work

next problem...if I can't find it here, finding a knob

How do I see how many ohms this is? Which pins would show me the max impedance on the one I have?

Of course the final issue is the knob. I've found them for similar models but not this one. Hard to tell the fit from a picture

And ebay for parts only the shipping is hell. Wonder if I can ask a parts only seller I'll buy just the knob

I'm almost tempted to try Craigslist. They had a few good amps there but what can I say, I like a project

I'd look at Ali for the knob. The shafts are generally 6mm, then it's diameter and depth to measure.

Does anyone know the pot impedance? Or how to measure it with my meter? I'm guessing just turn it all the way down and measure

I found the schematics but the site is low resolution because it costs to sign up

If you use the correct model number you will find your service manual, free.
The RESITANCE of the control is 100K X6, The motor is not a stepper motor it is just a dc motor

yeah you're right. Sorry I haven't worked on this level of electronics in years. I mostly just replace caps

odd I could not find that schematic. Guess you know more places to look

I got that too but once you go through a number of pages it bumps the resolution down if you don't pay

Ugh I'll just get one off craigslist. Them pot (china, with shipping, and the knob), I'll just find one on craigslist for $75-$100 I guess. Maybe turn this into a project

*I'll probably recap some of it

Thing about this amp is it is ballin' when it comes to music, not the best for TV
