Help troubleshoot Harman Kardon AVR 1710 Amber light

    Hello folks.

I have this HK AVR 1710 with amber light not powering up. Found corrosion on hdmi MCU board, cleaned as best as I could. Half of the front buttons didnt respond, including power button. I could do a processor reset with surround mode button, so that worked.

I powered it up a few times like this and sound and other functions seemed to work well. Still couldnt power on or off using buttons. So I downloaded the service manual from electrotanya (search avr 1710) and found the pins for the front buttons on the MCU. There was no signal reaching those pins and after 2 days I found 2 gaps on the copper traces which i fixed. Now the signal reaches the pins, however, there is still no response. And now, It wont reset.

I would really appreciate any input as to how to proceed as I have no experience in these digital receivers.

    Thanks.

You should start cleaning the board, with an ultrasonic cleaner.

Hi. I dont own an ultrasonic, so I washed it with soap and toothbrush, rinsed with 99% Isopropyl and heated in reflow oven at 105C for 30 min.

The MCU is a STM32F205. Is there a way to tell if it is booting o working correctly?

If you found 2 bad traces I suspect there will be more, and due to double sided board, feedthru's might be corroded.

Whats really troubling my mind is that those 2 gaps were on the same trace and under the green overlay. I had to uncover the copper every few mm to find them. How would that happen? Electrolysis?

Harman/Kardon AVR 645 returning to stand-by after a few seconds.
            by PowellSkier
A Harman/Kardon AVR 645 repair has been a hobby of mine for the past several years. My latest attempt involved the purchase of a DOA unit for part swapping and testing. The original AVR would power up then shut down after a few seconds. I completely tore down both units, found a couple of bad components and reassembled one of them. Same issue, no speakers connected. After extensive research I found a repair document from Harman/Kardon that explains the protection circuit in fantastic detail and provides specific test points for each fault (power, DC detection, overload & power) and the voltage...

            by PowellSkier
            Would I be able to swap a 0.27 Ohm Kx2 5W resistor for a 0.22 Ohm Jx2 5W resistor in a Harman/Kardon AVR? Cement type.

Harman Kardon AVR 3700 burned, it does not turn on and I have already changed the fuse and when turned on it burns again. It must be shorted.

I made a new Diagnostic and verified that the input source is shorted.

            Someone help

Harman Kardon sub TS11 (ds15 amplifer) blows fuse and mosfets
            by BlackScreen_22
Hi, I'll start by saying that I'm not an expert and I've reached a point where I don't know what to try/do anymore...
Starting from the beginning: I opened this subwoofer for the first time with a very strong smell of burnt electrical components, I realize that on the amplifier board there is a hole between V+ OUT and GND about the size of a finger, the damaged components were the shorted mosfets, two damaged zener diodes and two capacitors. I bought everything, I fixed the hole by cutting the pcb and putting a piece of a perforated board.
I had no problems connecting mosfets and capacitors,...
