Hi guys. Asking for help to repair this VR HMD.
Tl;Dr: I screwed up and sent 12v on the usb power to the oddysey HMD. Now only recognized as usb 2.1 device instead of 3.0 or 3.1 like before.
I got this VR HMD from samsung, on sale from amazon. However, I had problems and wasn't getting recognized as a monitor, only the usb 3.0+ device, so I searched everywhere and the most likely cause was insufficient power from USB ports. Bought a PCIe USB 3.0 dual port card with molex power connector for it, but the power connector came off when I applied a little...

Toshiba A215-S4767 Random Crash Video Corruption
Hi.
I have this Toshiba A215-S4767 for some time now. It is now crashing randomly, but frequently. Sometimes while idle, and sometimes working. Mostly when in windows, only a couple times before finishing loading windows. Shows vertical color lines or sometimes screen goes slowly to black or white.
I reinstalled the OS, windows 7 pro, no change.
I disassembled it, cleaned it, cleaned all cards, memory, wifi, modem. Cleaned fans and reapplied tim to all chips.
No change.
Checked for corrosion on any components, but none...

Re: Help troubleshoot Harman Kardon AVR 1710 Amber light
Hi. I dont own an ultrasonic, so I washed it with soap and toothbrush, rinsed with 99% Isopropyl and heated in reflow oven at 105C for 30 min.
The MCU is a STM32F205. Is there a way to tell if it is booting o working correctly?

Help troubleshoot Harman Kardon AVR 1710 Amber light
Hello folks.
I have this HK AVR 1710 with amber light not powering up. Found corrosion on hdmi MCU board, cleaned as best as I could. Half of the front buttons didnt respond, including power button. I could do a processor reset with surround mode button, so that worked.
I powered it up a few times like this and sound and other functions seemed to work well. Still couldnt power on or off using buttons. So I downloaded the service manual from electrotanya (search avr 1710) and found the pins for the front buttons on the MCU. There was no signal reaching those pins and...

Re: Cooler Master 1200W SPG - No power.
Managed to replace the PCF chip (CM6802), however not exact match. Got the DIP16 version, not the SOP16, which I am still looking for.
Now the supply tries to start, coils whine for an instant and then shuts down.
Same behaviour every time.

Re: Cooler Master 1200W SPG - No power.
Ok, this is what I measured.
Input 118V AC
Full bridge rectifier output 165-170V
Rectifier Caps voltage 165-170V
PFC Transistors DS Voltage: 165V (PSU off) 28-30V (PSU On)
Main Switchers. One is on, the other is off. No gate voltage. These drive the main converter.
No secondary output at all, at least cant measure any with my multimeter. Dont have an O-Scope. Only 5V SB, which is present always.
There is a spot between the 2 .39ohm resistors...

Re: Cooler Master 1200W SPG - No power.
Ok, here are the pictures.
If you need anything specific, just ask.
"Do all secondary voltages come up and then disappear or nothing at all? Does the PFC circuit work (380V DC main filter cap)? "
Only 5v SB. The 12V is missing. Other voltages are derived from the the 12v rail via vrms.
On the primary side, PFC 380V is present. Filter caps charge to 170V....

Cooler Master 1200W SPG - No power.
Hi.
Im trying to repair this power supply that went bad over two years ago and was used in a bitcoin mining rig, connected in parallel with a 750w thermaltake psu.(They were running 6 R9-280X AMD Graphics cards)
The board had black marks in the 24 pin connector. However, only the 1200w psu was damaged. It was sent to repair, since i had no experience in psu repair.
Main switchers replaced and it ran for a couple months until it failed again. It now attempts to start but shuts down immediately.
This time, I want to repair it it myself. I have a background...
