2 things i notice about dab,

1: they all look like shit - like some tacky 50's look.
2: there are a hell of a lot of fault reports online.

i would scope the input and output of the dac.

It may well come to that but currently don't own a scope so for now shall continue troubleshooting back to the dac where possible. Fun learning on the way!

If it is the dac it'll be going in the bin anyway as it doesnt look repairable.

Ok, so getting audio through the LM324 via the caps on the PCM1742 VoutL and VoutR traces.

Not quite sure how to progress with this now so have bought another identical working unit to swap the Radioscape DSP over to prove thats the fault which I highly suspected from the start.
Shall report back with my findings in a couple of days.

At least I'll have a working radio back in my workshop again, hopefully!

So swapped out the Radioscape RS220 with a known working one and still no change so the fault is definately on the power/amp board.

Also changed out the control/button keypad and the headphone jack pcb with no change.

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
              by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...

Vintage SONY Digital Clock Radio ICF-C12W no audio
              by UserXP
              Dear all,

I have this old radio clock by Sony from the early 80s, I guess. The clock display works, but is dim, the function board appears to be OK - but the radio unit shows no signs of life. It doesn't produce a single noise, crack or anything from either FM or AM band. It's like it doesn't even power up.
i opened the radio and it is full of some TRACON gray capacitors. They only have their negative strip printed, voltage and capacitace markings - no series, no temperature marking, nothing else.
My question is, do you know of this brand of capacitors and how bad are...

Roland KR-3500/4500 Digital Piano. Crackling audio sound on all keys -Fixed
              by i_am_patch
Hi All. I had a Roland KR-3500 Digital Piano (similar to the KR-4500) that exhibited a Crackling audio sound on all keys. After reading somewhere about someone with a similar issue who had replaced all the Electrolytic caps I decided to also go down that route. (Spoiler : It worked !) After some basic troubleshooting I determined that it could be noise feeding thru from the Keyboard scanning since the Demo tunes played back undistorted and the Audio amp / speakers were fine ( Inserted an Audio signal into the rear Audio input). After extracting the main board from the shield, I replaced 7 Capacitors...
