    T.C.Star TCS3556 Speakers PCB Burn

    Hello All,
As subject says, i have T.C.Star TCS3556 Speakers and yesterday my speakers sudden make big noise sound and some burn smell come out from inside with little smoke, i close speakers & open it to check whats burned inside, i find out little burning near to big black Capacitator as marked in below picture, since its already little burn from middle part so i have no idea what part is it which need to replaced, will appreciated if any one can help to tell if its Zener diode or just direct connection, if its Zener diode then which size i need to replace,
    Thanks.

wow, that board really looks like it's seen its better days. You'll likely need to check all the semiconductors for shorts. Not sure what you're pointing to there, but it looks like some inductor and these shouldn't really burn...

They look like ferrite bead inductors, we need good clear focused pictures of the whole bottom side of the board too.

OK, they are jumpers for the AC from the power transformer for feeding the bridge rectifier circuit, you can see J3 which looks corrode, and then the jumper that burn up. The board is given an option to install inductors L1 and L2 or put jumpers instead

          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...4&d=1533784756

You can easily see how the two jumpers are connected.
It looks like you are in humid environment, I can see rusted screw heads.
You should check all four rectifier diodes D1, D2, D3, and D4 (BTW those diode legs look corroded) to make sure they are OK, then clean up the burnt areas, remove both jumper wires and put in the new one, resolder any solder joints that corroded, any component's legs that are corroded.
Check the resistance between the two legs of each lytics filter caps right next to the rectifier to make sure they do not show very low resistance.

Glad to hear you got it fixed and the follow-up.
I always wonder how well the stuff last in the humid area, seems like you will have lots of stuff breaking down.

indeed here humid is scary, since Taiwan is a island after all & full with humility, so stuff got mad after two or three years & here fixing shops are intensely expensive so have no choice but DIY, appreciated your help budm,
                  Thanks.

                    TV backlight zener diode
                    by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm repairing an LG TV backlight and I noticed some strange behavior when I touching the backlight strip with a missing Zener diode.

So I replaced the leds on the strips and they seemingly working fine, but soon as I touch the strip which has a missing Zener diode the whole backlight turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on.

Is this caused by the missing diode? If so what kind of zener diode should I use to replace it?.

The led strips has 9 6V leds.

I have bought this Zener Diode for this project what size and wattage resistor value do I need to use to get near 50 watt output
I bought this from an eBay seller but unfortunately they only had one

I bought three from Vetco Electronics these are Sylvania ECG5185A 9.1@10w A to Stud what size and watt resistor do I need to use to get near 10 watt output
I bought three of from them to also make battery packs with this output power limit in mind

I want to use this battery pack and turn it into a 9.1 output battery pack output to eliminate using 9 volt battery...

Element 32 inches tv (ELEFW328B) Unknown component: Diode or zener?
                    by Vincenzo2
My Element 32 inches tv (ELEFW328B) lost it's backlight (confirmed with a flashlight test) and the connector on the PCB (it has one board that has a processor chip, switch mode power supply, and backlight circuit) that has the two wires that go to the backlight LED strips has a very low voltage (28-29 volts) when turned ON, in my opinion.

Started testing components and found an SMD diode or zener that is shorted (even zero fusing resistors read a few tens of milliohms, while this thing reads zero).

I put some pictures here to show that it is labeled "M7"....

Corsair RM1000e - Help identify 5VSB Zener diode
                    by hobostove
Hey there guys. I've got a Corsair power supply that's come across my bench dead. I usually don't mess with power supplies, but it's a slow week so I'm giving it a whirl.

Taking it apart I heard a screw rattling around inside, and when I got it apart I found a couple blown components near what I think is the 5VSB area.

There's a 22ohm resistor that's melted and open, but it still has the bands.

The other part is a zener diode and it's top went to jesus, so I can't read the marking.

It looks like the diode connects the source and drain of a TNY284...

Yamaha delay D1500, zener diode broken with no marking
                    by debidoobs
                    Hello,

im actually trying to save a d1500 delay from yamaha. I found the service manual but schematic is missing and BOM list is a bit unclear as components listed have no reference linked to the pcbs... In my case, one zener diode was broken (114 code on the pcb in attached file) and couldn't be repaired : it was a zener type package. In the BOM list i found 3 reference on this board : 1S555 (can be replaced by 1N4148), RD4.7EB2 (approx 5v rectifier), RD7.5EB3 (approx 7v rectifier)...

Actually the cathode goes to VCC of sram M5M5118P, without this diode missing, i have...
