    DC on output Pioneer VSX-1021

I have this amp in protection mode, its a Pioneer VSX-1021, the MCACC light is flashing. Service manual says it means DC on the output.

I pulled out the amp board and tested the transistors, found they were all ok, except for FL. I found the main power transistors are both shorted, and also the pre-driver stage same channel. All other transistor tested OK in circuit. I pulled the same transistors off SBL (Surround Back Left, its a 7.1 amp), thinking that would get left and right working, until I buy the replacements for the surround later. Left Surround channel left with no transistors in it.

Powered up and same problem again, protection mode. I dont know if the Left channel is working because its saying there are still DC issues. So I measured the DC on each output. Measured at the test points for biasing which are straight off the main transistor outputs, not the terminals on the back.

Now it gets weird, I get +60v on each channel (all 7 channels). I'd say this is not normal. I'm looking for advice on how to proceed from here, I'm thinking replace all the transistors on the board, all channels, and check all passive components.

Is this the best way forward or is there a better way?

Also, because the NPN transistors are on the positive rail, does that mean the +60v means each NPN is now shorted? Sounds reasonable to me but maybe its not that simple?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

    Cheers.

check all power supply voltages ..negative rail might be missing .
might be blown fuses or fuse resistors .

It might be a spurious error because you are trying to run it with half the parts removed?

Did you check all the components on the FL channel?
Did you reset the unit after replacing the transistors?

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
            by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Denon AVR 1908, High pitch noise on Surround back Left channel after long overhaul
            by karatzdi
            Hello,

I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

Spent some time downloading the Service...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
            by spleenharvester
            Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

            Hitachi V19B01922 Channel Tune problem
            by dicky96
            Hi Guys
I have a customer who has two Hitachi TVs in his bar, one is the model in the thread title and the other is a larger screen but has the same setup menu

He also has an LG TV, so three screens in the bar

            I installed three Satlink ST-6503 DVB-T Modulators
            This model https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32916553905.html

These connect to three satellite receivers via HDMI cables and then connect to a 4 way RF Amp that connects to the TVs on aerial cable. There is no incoming terrestrial antenna. I set the channel ID on the modulators to...

Marantz pm 6005 right channel not worknig
            by sima112
            Hi guys,
I need a help with my Marantz pm6005. It started to have weaker the right channel a few months ago, than it got back to normal and now it has lost sound completely on the right channel. At the final stage it was loosing the channel for a while and than it returned. After it has disappeared completely I could forced it back by unplugging the source form CD (which I normally use) to phone and back. It would then work for a few minutes and died again. Now it is possible power up and all function works normally (apart the right channel ) on all inputs, except the phone both channel...
