    Altec Lansing A-7 Cabinets

I am lucky enough to have a pair of Altec's Voice of The Theater A-7's. After having them at an overnight party I brought them home and one of them fell on its back while unloading. It broke the 15" woofer and its mounting plate completely loose from the cabinet. I was pissed to say the least until I found out that I could now see how they made the low freq horn. I then reverse engineered a pair of identical new cabinets that are pretty darn close to exact. The hardest part was making the curved blocks that support the bended plywood that makes the horn and shaping the plywood itself. One of the cuts is a compound curve. So...after going through all this trouble I made patterns for both the blocks and the plywood sides of the horn. IF anyone knows about these speaker cabinets and has thought about making them these 2 parts are the most challenging...All the other cuts are square and straight. If you are interested in making them I would be glad to hook you up with the patterns.

sounds like your describing a scoop-bin.

you bend the plywod in a jig, then steam it for a while & dry it again - then it keeps the shape.

Help with replacing Capacitors on Altec Lansing ATP 3
        by yuzupatogik
        Hello,
I have this old (2004?) Altec Lansing ATP3 and i would like to replace the capacitors. I have identified 34 out of the 36 of them as Samxon GR of various capacities and voltages.

I can't find datasheets for the Samxon in any of the following variants:

10000uF 25 v - this one i really want to replace because i suspect it is what causes a dull hum regardless of the volume knob position or if the source is plugged in. I am eyeballing the Rubycon 25PK10000MEFCGC18X35.5 for this purpose. So if i pay a 10x the price part for shipping i might as well go ahead and...

Weekend score: Altec Lansing VS4121 Speakers for $7.59!
        by Th3_uN1Qu3
Was browsing the local classifieds for cheap audio crap last week. Found this system up for sale for ridiculously cheap.

After a few days of not enough time or bad weather i could finally get to pick it up on Saturday. The seller also gave me a bag of "old electronics a neighbor gave me and i do not need", which contained various crap like old TV speakers, what appears to be a monitor power supply, a couple Samsung USB cables with a weird connector at the other end, could be some service interfaces, and a cheapo universal laptop power brick that just had a plastic tab on...

        Altec PC410 Auto PID Tune
        by VaNDAL_UK
        Hi,

Anyone know how to get the Altech PC410 to initiate a P.I.D Tune?

I can see the option, turn it on and it just flashed "tune" but nothing happens. Even tried running a profile after selecting tune.

I remember doing it years ago on another machine but for the life of me I can't work it out this time.

        TIA.
