  • Samsung ln46a500t1f clicks wont turn on

I have never worked on a LCD TV and have a Samsung LN46A500T1F that wont turn on. When turned on it clicks every few seconds and no picture happens. Any ideas where I should begin on this one?...

  • Samsung PN59D7000FFXZA Cycling On Off

I have a Samsung PN59D7000FFXZA that when plugged in it displays the last source (HDMI 3) in the corner and then displays a Samsung Smart TV banner then it turns itself off and repeats this until unplugged. The Remote Control won't respond either as I tried to see if I could find a menu to reset...Any idea which board is to blame? I haven't taken the back off yet and can put up pics when I do if needed. The set is spotless otherwise. Thanks!

  • Re: Rca 42pa30rq troubles

After replacing the ymain, xmain and y buffer it works like new...nice tv. It also has the tuner that will get the hd cable channels we have here on channels 1005-1011 without a cable box.

  • Re: Tuner Spec Question

Apparently not all QAM decoders are the same. I found some set top HD converters that also work with cable that have QAM but when I asked the seller if it would receive 1005-1011 he said it would not get 4 digit channels. I also tried a DVR that had a digital tuner with QAM and it didn't get them either. I'd just like to be able to know which will or wont.

I asked COX's Technical Support people and they acted dumb and said they were not aware of any way to get any HD channels without one of their boxes.

    Tuner Spec Question

My cable provider is COX and I am able to connect directly to cable without using their box and still get a lot of channels. Here's my question...On 2 of my tv's I get channels 2-69 plus I get channels 1005-1011 which are the same as channels 5-11 except they are in HD. They are our local channels. On 2 of my other tv's I don't get channels 1005-1011. I thought it might be something to do with the date of manufacture but I won the RCA listed below and it was made April 2014 and it doesn't get those channels. The only detailed spec I could find was the Toshiba so I'll start with it:

  • Rca 42pa30rq troubles

I'm trying to troubleshoot this RCA 42PA30RQ. It clicks on then clicks off right away. I did the disconnect test and have narrowed it down to the T-Conn board (I think) When the T-Conn board is disconnected from Power Board it only clicks on. When connected on then off. Tried disconnecting all the other connections to the T-Conn but still click on click off...Bad T-Conn? Or? None of the other boards affect it connected or not.

  • Altec Lansing A-7 Cabinets

I am lucky enough to have a pair of Altec's Voice of The Theater A-7's. After having them at an overnight party I brought them home and one of them fell on its back while unloading. It broke the 15" woofer and its mounting plate completely loose from the cabinet. I was pissed to say the least until I found out that I could now see how they made the low freq horn. I then reverse engineered a pair of identical new cabinets that are pretty darn close to exact. The hardest part was making the curved blocks that support the bended plywood that makes the horn and shaping the plywood itself. One...

  • Re: Samsung HP-S5053 Problem

I played around with the Yrr first and found when I turned it one way there were lots of positive sparkles and as I turned it back the other way they almost were gone. There were still some when the background was dark but a great improvement from the way it was. Then I monkeyed around with the Yfr and the same, one direction more sparkles the other less. I'm going to watch it some and then do some fine tuning if necessary. Unless I caused some unforeseen side effect I think this one is pretty much cured and is going to live.

    I appreciate...

I messaged the guy that I got the board from and asked if he preferred me adjusting the Yrr and the Yfr on the Y-Main or return it to him and this was his reply cut and pasted:

    Hi,
Your TV and my TV are the same.
The y main works on my TV which has no noise and so does.your TV. Don't need to adjust any thing to the y main.
More than 10 years that I repair the y man board, some TVs take a few months.
Be patient. Put another is the same.
    Thank you

  • Re: Samsung HP-S5053 Problem

    OK here's what I got...
    The label says: Va=65 Vsc=-190 Vset=190 Vs=203 Ve=115
    Here's what I had: Va=65.5 Vsc=-195.2 Vset=195.2 Vs=204.4 Ve=117.8

I set all to exact label specs with no change to picture or sparkles.

There are 2 pots on the Y-Main board: one marked Yrr and the other
I cant find any markings near it. I'm guessing thats Yfr...

Have mirror set up awaiting further instructions....

  • Re: Samsung HP-S5053 Problem

I don't need help locating the pots or the test points. I can find those easily. From the other threads I see that first I should test the Vs, Va, Vset and Vscan on the Power Board and adjust to the specs on the sticker. and then the Yrr and the Yfr on the Y-Main board. Correct? Before I make any adjustments I will measure all the above and report back.

  • Samsung HP-S5053 Problem

Samsung HP-S5053 was working great...Picture went out but sound was ok.
Sent Y-Main board to a place that repairs and included the buffers for them to test. Y-Main was bad but the buffers were both ok. They sent me back a repaired Y-Main (not the one I sent - I marked them) and my buffers. Installed them and the picture returned but now has the green and red sparkle problem. I asked the repair place what was causing this and they told me this: "Thats common after repairing the Y-Main, not to worry, that the symptom would go away after watching it over a period of days". I have...
