    Logitech Z506 with corrosion

    Hi Guys,
    I have a Logitech Z506 with some problem.
    The main problem was the front right and subwoofer gave a hard noise.
    After the disassemble I found many corrosion on the mainboard as you can see on the pictures.
    I removed the corrosions and the noise disappeared but the sound too.

    I think some parts is damaged because of the corrosion.
    I searched a lot on the internet but I cant find correct schematic for this pcb, so I dont know what is the correct values of the damaged parts.
    But I found same good pictures of this board.

    If you anybody can help me please don't hesitate.

    So, I need values for R403, R404, R426

    Yes, SMT resistors are more likely to fail from corrosion.
    You have few options:
    - Find picture of a good board
    - Find out part number of that IC, then find datasheet and check reference circuit. But this will not work in case of opamps.
    - If the same chip used in another circuit on the same board, check what components are there.
    If you are really determined, you can reverse engineer it and draw a circuit.

      Clean all that yellowish stuff also because it will corrode anything underneath. It is the same as brown you cleaned, only in second not third phase of transformation.

        Thank you the suggestion, I got the information.
        R403 = 15 kohm
        R404 = 47 kohm
        R426 = 47 kohm

          You are right.
          Have you any idea for cleaning method?

            OK I found a simple method for cleaning: I heated the glue with a hot air station to 100 C and the glue softened and than I could removed that.

              Did your repair end up working out? That looks really nasty! I never knew that some heat would help remove the glue...I've always had to chip it away manually.

              I'm also curious how it managed to get that bad in the first place. Do you live somewhere hot? Looks like the corrosion got bad enough that things started shorting out in a significant fashion.

                Yes, I repaired the Z506.
                The heat helped to remove the glue because the hard glue softened.
                I live in Hungary in middle Europe so I dont think the weather is the reason of corrosion. Btw I saw lot of picture of Z506 with corrosion pcb.
                My opinion is the used glue is not a good quality.

                  It's mostly glue's chemical composition which reacts with natural moisture in air, nothing to do with heat. And that glue manufacturers used from early 80's, here some 1981 HK amplifier which I had recently but examples are countless.

                    Logitech R20 speakers - Replacing one of the speakers.
                    by Widget
                    Hi guys,

                    I have a set of Logitech R20 speakers, one of the speakers wasn't working, so I took it apart & there was no continuity or Resistance when probing the Tinsel Wires. Plus looks like the speaker was exposed to liquid as there's rust on the metal speaker frame.

                    Just in case, I removed the other speaker and installed it in place of the damaged speaker to make sure the PCB of the damaged speaker was ok & it seemed to work fine, so it looks like it's just the speaker for now.

                    Printed on the back of the Logitech speaker is;

                    LOGITECH...

                    Weird clipping on Logitech Z-10 speakers
                    by dreamlayers
                    I bought used Logitech Z-10 computer speakers. They can act as a USB audio device or accept line input, and they have a headphone output jack. Some music didn't sound right, so I played a frequency sweep and heard other frequencies and beat frequencies between them and the sweep. I uploaded a spectrogram of a frequency sweep. From the very start, some but not all odd harmonics are visible, indicating symmetric distortion. Then at higher frequencies there are descending images of those harmonics, indicating non-linearity and constant higher frequency noise mixing with the harmonics. The image of...

                    Huawei D15 no power found corrosion damage
                    by B2L_Repairs
                    I got a huawei D15 that came in for no power repair. Device charges , charging led flashedms but doesn't turn on. I found corrosion on an IC (ic name is BDJCY1...I can't find out much info about it online). I removed this ic and two pads are corroded but they can be repaired. To my knowledge inductors never short to ground (i might be wrong and please those that are more knowledgeable than me can correct me). I found few inductors short to ground when my multimeter is in beep mode ,indicating a short in the line of those inductors...but I don't know how to go about to find the shorted component...

                    Fix for Logitech Z906 speaker erratic function
                    by tayl0rsw1ft
                    Just passing this around if anyone has a problem with their Logitech z906 speakers--that one issue where all the lights all go haywire and resulting no sound issue. If you have access to an ESR meter, this will allow you to pinpoint which exact cap is causing the issue. But alas I didn't have one so I decided to go ham with the board and replace all of them with automotive-grade electrolytic caps.

                    Tried the resistor fix but still no go.

                    Sooo...I ended up replacing -all- the electrolytic caps on the board. Took me forever to finish due to the silicone glue they pot...
