Fix for Logitech Z906 speaker erratic function

Just passing this around if anyone has a problem with their Logitech z906 speakers--that one issue where all the lights all go haywire and resulting no sound issue. If you have access to an ESR meter, this will allow you to pinpoint which exact cap is causing the issue. But alas I didn't have one so I decided to go ham with the board and replace all of them with automotive-grade electrolytic caps.

Tried the resistor fix but still no go.

Sooo...I ended up replacing -all- the electrolytic caps on the board. Took me forever to finish due to the silicone glue they pot down the caps with (not cool, Logitech, not cool).

For me, now it works! Just remember, low-ESR and rugged, high-temperature electrolytic caps are the key to longevity to our beloved electronic devices. Have fun!

Was there yellow glue inside which turned brown? This similar thing happened on some other computer speakers and turned out to be the culprit, not the caps. Strange that the Z906s would have bad caps already because I would've thought this model is relatively new.

Yellow glue that turns brown and corrodes neighboring elements. This is not just a defect of this manufacturer, it is a common phenomenon.
I have the impression that the newer the equipment, the shorter it will work without failure. Some manufacturers already manage to release models that do not want to work for more than 2 years.

        by paparazzo79
My friend wants to purchase this TV, Philips 55OLED805/12 and asked me if he will have surround sound over it's optical output to 5.1 Z906 setup from Logitech.
Now I have Z906,but I'm not so sure about that since these are PC speakers.
Hope someone knows, so he can purchase this TV.

        Logitech Z906 Power Problem
        by DjKrish
Hi folks, i have some issue with this z906. No power. So i checked inside, the AC side is fine, all working good. Then i moved to DC side, checked all the output voltage. Amp voltages seems to be fine which is 12v, 5v and so on. But the 3.3v standby voltage seems very low. So i knew thats the culprit. After further checking, a few diodes gone bad, which is shorted, and 1 IC i assume its a LDO thats supplying the standby voltage. Ive identified the faulty components but since they are SMD, im having trouble finding the codes. Can any good souls help me? Ive attached the pictures of the parts h...

Logitech R20 speakers - Replacing one of the speakers.
        by Widget
        Hi guys,

I have a set of Logitech R20 speakers, one of the speakers wasn't working, so I took it apart & there was no continuity or Resistance when probing the Tinsel Wires. Plus looks like the speaker was exposed to liquid as there's rust on the metal speaker frame.

Just in case, I removed the other speaker and installed it in place of the damaged speaker to make sure the PCB of the damaged speaker was ok & it seemed to work fine, so it looks like it's just the speaker for now.

        Printed on the back of the Logitech speaker is;
