Legs ar corroded off although otherwise board is quite clean. No scope fast enough unfortunately, I think it must be in tens of Mhz, and microprocessor is Bosch 30302 as I wrote so this also is dead end. Looks to me that most realistic way is to bodge some wires to it which I've done and ECU starts, car still not running but that to my mech. Not the most reliable repair to my liking but it's at least something.

Need help identifying crystal
Got VW Bosch ECU with rotted away crystal oscillator and can't find frequency for it, it drives Bosch 30302 chip for which there is also no any datasheet. Markings on it says
453NDK9X.
and there is nothing on internets about it that I can find.... -

That is something above 60 degrees, for transistors with upper working t at 150°C it's nothing. I once had some Rotel with completely burned off painting on output transistor emiter resistors, all measured perfectly ok. Just replaced 2W original ones with oversized 5w for peace of mind but that amp went bloody hot no matter idle or full throtle, that was by design....Leave a comment:

You can find some sizes in old Marrs Communication catalogues but they often can be misleading, and honestly I don't think that those kit prices are exaggerated.

It's mostly glue's chemical composition which reacts with natural moisture in air, nothing to do with heat. And that glue manufacturers used from early 80's, here some 1981 HK amplifier which I had recently but examples are countless....Leave a comment:

Yes, it's perfectly normal, it starts to spin after reaching 50% (or so) load or some temperatures. And that's not for energy saving but quietness.
Or they just say to pot Hi?...

Actually that was just temporarily one just to turn it on and test preliminary, already searching for 5V and 12V heavy enough psu. More dissapointment came when I discovered that cheap Radeon 9700 I got earlier has artefacts, and X1950 pro code 10 on one of two gpus in device manager......Leave a comment:
