DPA 50S common emitter push-pull schematic

    Hi

I've come across a few emitter-follower/common collector push-pull power amp circuits where NPN / PNP are collector-connected to +ve and -ve respectively, but am working on a repair of a Deltec Precision Audio DPA 50S from circa 1987 where the PNP / NPN power transistors are connected the opposite way (PNP and NPN emitter to +ve and -ve respectively).

The driving circuitry is therefore a bit more complex than I'm used to seeing and it's giving me a brain-block without any schematic to look at... Does anyone have any information that could be of help please?

It appears the output power transistors on one channel have gone short (probably drivers too), taking out a pair of 6R0 (odd value!) wirewound resistors (one got so hot as to melt its own solder connection before vaporising itself)! Apparently this blew from cold having previously worked so possibly power-on stress on aged components.

Power transistors are MJ15003 and MJ15004, drivers MJE15029 and MJE15028 (all pretty expensive so wanting to get this right), there's a couple of trimmers to set the bias/quiescent current for each channel too - they both appear to be fine, reading approx 5ohm, not open but again I have no information to go on apart from the working channel in terms of setting such things.

I've scoured the net but not finding much info about these amps or this design anywhere, so any info greatfully received.

    Keith

[Marantz SR5012] Center channel keeps going into ASO/Overcurrent protection.
    by acedogblast
First off I would like to thank this community as it has provided me with great information that has helped me greatly on my repair for this Marantz SR5012 AV receiver. I am creating this new thread as the other 2 that I have created here has had their original question/problem solved and I plan that this is the final thread on my repair. Please note that this is my first time repairing audio amplifiers so I may not be aware of common issues and things to know.

Lets start at what I have done so far. Random speaker popping on all channels is fixed by replacing the 2 large filter...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
    by spleenharvester
    Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

    Hitachi V19B01922 Channel Tune problem
    by dicky96
    Hi Guys
I have a customer who has two Hitachi TVs in his bar, one is the model in the thread title and the other is a larger screen but has the same setup menu

He also has an LG TV, so three screens in the bar

    I installed three Satlink ST-6503 DVB-T Modulators
    This model https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32916553905.html

These connect to three satellite receivers via HDMI cables and then connect to a 4 way RF Amp that connects to the TVs on aerial cable. There is no incoming terrestrial antenna. I set the channel ID on the modulators to...

Marantz pm 6005 right channel not worknig
    by sima112
    Hi guys,
I need a help with my Marantz pm6005. It started to have weaker the right channel a few months ago, than it got back to normal and now it has lost sound completely on the right channel. At the final stage it was loosing the channel for a while and than it returned. After it has disappeared completely I could forced it back by unplugging the source form CD (which I normally use) to phone and back. It would then work for a few minutes and died again. Now it is possible power up and all function works normally (apart the right channel ) on all inputs, except the phone both channel...

    Supermicro X10DAX and Quad Channel
    by Logistics
So my dilemma is that I can't seem to get my board to run in Quad Channel. I have an X10DAX with Dual E5 2690 v3's and originally it had four 16GB sticks of Samsung ECC. Figuring I needed to have a stick for each DIMM1 slot I purchased four more identical sticks of Samsung M393A2G40DB0-CPB. So, now I have eight 16GB sticks for a total of 128GB of RAM. When I install the ram so that Each DIMM1 slots is populated the system will not post even if I clear the CMOS, remove the battery, what-have-you. But according to what I'm reading in the Manual, which is admittedly not very clear, populating each...
