Vintec V160SGB wine chiller - thermostat replacement

My vintage wine chiller, Vintec model# S160SGB, mechanical thermostat failed (not cutting off compressor at set temperature anymore).
After some initial research, this is a Dasfoss 25T65 EN 60730-2 part number.
While this part is generally still available in some online portal, it is fairly expensive. There are many digital thermostat available with some simple rewiring, but I am hoping to preserve it with a with a less expensive mechanical equivalent part.

Anyone familiar can recommend some less expensive equivalent?

Let me make a suggestion to you that you might be interested in

If you decide to go with a digital temperature controller make sure that you have some type anti cycling device that if loose power to keep the compressor from short cycling if you do not do this you will shorten the life of the compressor

Here is a ebay seller that has this thermostat

I have done a mechanical to digital thermostat replacement before. The usual setting is the set the cut-out temperature say, at 12C, and set the cut-in temperature at few degree higher, say at 15C. Then the cycle would be +/- 3C, usually take around 15-30 minutes depending on embient temperature.

Thanks - I google and found a few exact part in ebay. They are expensive as is, and adding shipping cost to Singapore would be too expensive for me..

I don't understand the mechanical thermostat specs and therefore having difficulty picking an equivalent part. There are many in Aliexpress, but they are labelled WDF-XX or WPF-XX, etc which I do not know what they mean..

Do you, or anyone here know?

Here is one that would probably work for you

Model: “WPF-20” the second letter I am not sure what this means

The WPF is probably the series classification
The number is the temperature range

In the description there is usually a temperature range that the thermometer will work in

I would not recommend that you purchase a thermostat that does not give you a temperature range because it will probably not be accurate enough to use it in your application

Re: Vintec V160SGB wine chiller - thermostat replacement

I found this explanation on aliexpress:
1WDF is a constant temperature reset, which is used in the freezer room of the refrigerator, and is designed to be turned on when the temperature is above 0 degrees.

WPF is a temperature difference reset, which is turned on after a few degrees of difference.

              WDF=Refrigerator Thermostat, WPF=Freezer Thermostat

The characteristics of the three adjustment screws on the thermostat are as follows:

              1. Temperature range adjustment screw: The countersunk head of this screw hangs on the shell of the thermostat. When this screw is adjusted, the control temperature of startup and shutdown will change at the same time. When adjusted counterclockwise, the opening and closing temperature points controlled by the thermostat will drop at the same time. From the phenomenon, it will be found that the refrigerator is easy to start and not easy to stop; when adjusted clockwise, the opening and closing temperature points will rise at the same time. , the phenomenon is easy to stop but not easy to start. This adjustment screw only needs to be adjusted when the boot temperature is abnormal. Generally, as long as the boot temperature control is normal, do not move it. Because once this screw is adjusted, it may be necessary to readjust the temperature difference adjustment screw.

              2. Temperature difference adjustment screw: The countersunk head of this screw is hung on the movable plate in a hole on the thermostat shell, which is easy to distinguish from the temperature range screw. When adjusting this screw, the actual effect is the same as adjusting the gear position of the thermostat. It can only change the shutdown control temperature without affecting the startup control. When this screw is adjusted counterclockwise, the temperature control point of shutdown will be raised, that is, the refrigerator will be more easily shut down, which is equivalent to reducing the gear position of the thermostat (ie: when it cannot be stopped at the original gear position, Adjusting this screw counterclockwise may stop the refrigerator); when adjusting it clockwise, it is equivalent to increasing the thermostat gear and lowering the stop temperature control point. If the refrigerator is too easy to shut down and the cooling effect is not ideal, you can adjust the screw clockwise, which can prolong the working time of the refrigerator and make the temperature drop lower before shutting down. If the refrigeration condition of the refrigerator can be basically normal, but the startup time is too long or does not stop at all, you can adjust the temperature difference adjustment screw counterclockwise to make the refrigerator stop normally. (unless the electrical contacts of the thermostat are glued together, or the fixation of the temperature sensing head of the thermostat is loose)

              3. Adjustment screw for constant temperature start-up: The position of this screw is on the electrical switch box of the thermostat, and its main function is to position the moving piece of the switch when it stops. When adjusting this screw, it will not affect the shutdown temperature, only the startup temperature control will be changed. When adjusted counterclockwise, the starting temperature will rise, and the refrigerator will be turned on later; when adjusted clockwise, the starting temperature will drop, and the refrigerator will be turned on earlier. It should be noted that after adjusting this screw, the moving range of the switch rotor will be changed at the same time, and if the moving range of the moving plate is too small or too large, the switch may not operate normally. The thermostat has been adjusted properly before leaving the factory. If it is not necessary to adjust, try not to adjust the constant temperature start-up screw. If you need to adjust the start-up control, try to adjust the temperature range adjustment screw. After adjusting the start-up control point properly, observe whether the shutdown control is normal. If it is not normal, adjust the temperature difference adjustment screw to make it normal. When adjusting the thermostat, in addition to the correct selection of adjustment screws and adjustment direction, the adjustment amount is very critical, and how much should be adjusted cannot be determined in one sentence, and it needs to be determined by experience. Therefore, when adjusting, generally do not adjust the amount too much each time. After the adjustment, observe for a while, and then decide whether it needs to be adjusted according to the situation.

Yes, I read in details and gotten a much thorough understanding now. With some confidence, I bought one from Aliexpress for a fraction of original Danfoss part costs. I hope it would be a simple "plug and play", otherwise would fiddle with the fine-tuning per the descriptions.
*note the existing part probe length is around 200cm, so a bit harder to find the right part - this is 195cm, the longest I found.

As a backup, I also bought a digital one, and this is a sure thing since I have done this before.

Thank you both, now waiting time
