    Interesting phenomena

My PC motherboard have few dead caps (few years already). Its working good (pc not starting right away tho when switched on, but after 5 mins or so system starting) with warm room temperature, but when temp. falling to 23 C or lower then writing errors appears on harddrive. Temperature >23 C - no writing errors. How this phenomena can be explained on physical level? Dead caps still have some capacity and working better when its warmer? Or some other explanation?

    Re: Interesting phenomena

lower ESR when the caps heat up..

interesting fact is that this wikipedia article points to "Capacitor Plague".. and that badcaps doesn't appear in the linklist of that plague article..
    i've expected a link to badcaps.net there..

Nvidia MATS help please - 33 errors on two cards?
        by chappers
        Hi,

I'm new to MATS and can only use it after watching a Youtube video, downloading the one he linked to (version 400.184) and running it without changing anything. I have no great understanding of it.

I have 3 graphics cards in the house.

My son's - Palit GTX 1080 used for 3D games constantly.
Mine - Nvidia GTX 1080 not used for 3D games, just basic stuff.
Inno3D RTX 2080 I bought faulty hoping to repair for my son's PC.

Running MATS on my son's GTX 1080 gives a pass with no errors.

There was a short circuit on the video memory power supply. Replaced all memory with new memory. The short circuit is gone.

Now the laptop turns on and works. But heats up a lot. Turned on with external cooling. In Windows the video card is detected but after installing the correct drivers it gives error 43.

In MATS test on 5mb writes a lot of errors on all memory channels on the record. (Attached report)

        Problems writing MX25L25673G
        by modtool
Hi to all, I'm facing a problem writing to an MX25L25673G SOIC-16 bios chip (part of an HP EliteOne 1000 G2 27") with a Willem programmer 5.0B (with software PCB98D12c4).
I know my programmer is old and I've planned to buy a new one but it worked until now with every eeprom I've faced in different devices, this is the first time that is giving me this kind of problem and I need to urgently solve it because I've already changed the fried southbridge and cleaned its ME fw, so I need to finish the last step of the repair.
This Willem supports some 256Mbit eeprom, I can choose between...
