    cap chart

    Yellow,
I was wondering if anyone has or knows where to find a chart that shows the worst case esr values for electrolytic capacitors. I have the dick smith esr meter. They have some values printed on the face of the meter but I would like to have a more extensive chart to keep from guessing. Thanks!

Click on "Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors" and then on "Group Chart".

For general purpose capacitors, refer to the ESR values of the KMG Series.
For low ESR capacitors, refer to the ESR values of the LXV or KY Series.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

These are fresh capacitor values. Anything above these is considered bad.

The ones on the ESR meter is worst case and judged to be rough guide, make a guess between values like 330uF, 39uF so on. Like plotting a curve and hit the new dot between dots.

          Cheers, Wizard
