20Pin ATX Power Supply Extension / MB Stabalizer Cable

Have you heard of a 20Pin ATX Power Supply Extension / MB Stabilizer Cable ?
    Is this true?
What is the principle behind that affirmation ("+5VSB causes inestability on the system")?

Note : Stabalizer was not misspelled by me. That's the title of the listing.

I think the "+5VSB causes >inestability< on the system" line is just a gimmick.

I have seen the idea before but the concern on 20/24 pin was +5v.
Seen on the 2x2-pin 'P4 connector' too for CPU VRM input.
All it does is compensate for weak caps in output of PSU.
All in all not a bad idea for a quick/temp fix,,,, but on +5vsb? Don't think so.

I wrote that dealer a few months ago about a case they had and my take was the first language wasn't English.

Also they don't know squat about their own products.
All I asked was how many hard drive mounts it had inside and they didn't know.
They just sent a link to the manufacturer's ad which didn't answer the question either.

i guess there are enough suckers out there who buy this junk.
a better idea would be a 6.2v zener.would protect against the bestec bombs.

I was thinking about the recently passed away ECS I removed from an eMachines with a Bestec PSU when I opened the thread. The first thing that came to my mind was "the only thing this would do is to 'stabalize' the deadly shot over the +5VSB that kills so many MBs out there".
+5VSB is only for standby (That's what SB stands for ). Maybe this 'stabalizes' the system while it is in soft-off mode, so it would be in standby without problems : no freezes, locks up, BSODs, or other 'inestabalities' that plague the standby mode of all PCs around the globe ...

Maybe TopCat would start selling "external recap kits" that include an extension cable for MB with 'stabalizing' caps in every MB connector cable (to power up weak signals) followed by a zener after the cap (again, in every line) to drop over voltages. A one size fits all external solution ....

The killer is the one cap IS inside the BESTEC PSU that go bad and destablizes the controller IC (5V standby) that makes up the voltage feedback regulation that voltage output goes up. Pow. Bad design. The ones I have seen had other (better) designs and tend to quit or go too low voltage to be any use.

In other word, that caps on the plugs extension is simply to empty one's pockets. I rather have PSU die when a 25 cent zener crowbars to ground if 5Vsb goes high.

            Cheers, Wizard
