Buying a new TV
K now that I bought a used 75 inch LED TV and got hosed I what to ask all your opinions on buying a new TV. It would be about a 75 inch also. Now in sating all this I`m not the tech savvy and tried to fix the one I bought and with this sites help was told the panel was NFG the tab bonding on a Samsung. Can you give your best scenario on the best built TV on the market is. And maybe what to watch out for thanks to all that will help.

I do not know which one is really the best but you can buy Samsung, Sony, etc. the panel may be made by someone else, even the same model cane be fitted with different LCD panel manufacturer.Never stop learning

K thanks budm I guess I will have to do a lot of research as it seems that there is again a lot of manufacturers that get the cheapest components to get there stuff to the market.Comment

I usually never buy extended warranties, but if you buy a TV from Costco Canada, they extend warranty to 2 years automatically. For another $99, it adds another 3 years for a grand total of 5 years.

Considering the cheapest 75 inch TV is $2800 not including taxes, adding the $99 3 year extended warranty is a small price to pay for protection.

Thanks retiredcaps I`ll look into this. And with the failure rate of all newer TV`s and most of their customer service (all of which I horror stories) well we will see it`s a crap shoot but yes get the warranty and maybe something in writing?Comment

Just for clarification, turn down the backlights level (the brightness is for the pictures, the backlights level is for the lights source level).Never stop learning

K thanks budm yes I`v learned a lot from this site and always learning ha if it can`t be fixed with a hammer its an electrical problem
Still I have some searching to do before I pull the trigger on either a 65 or 75 LED I`m thinking. I am liking the LG OLED as opposed to the Samsung QLED.

Costco's return/exchange policy is very generous.
I used an item for 11 months and it then broke on its own. The item had a 12 month warranty. I returned it back to Costco and they asked no questions and gave me a complete refund.
I have no personal dealings with Costco's extended warranty, but I have never had Costco tell me NO when I return broken things within its warranty period. The extended warranty is done through a 3rd party (Asurion) and I have no dealings with them.
BTW, if you are willing to go down to a 65 inch TV, the price is HALF compared to a 75 inch TV from a quick look. Of course, models, manufactures, features etc are not comparable, but you can save a ton of money on 10 inches.Last edited by retiredcaps; 09-18-2017, 04:30 PM.--- begin sig file ---

We bought the Assurion warranty for an iphone and when the inevitable happened they sent us a brand new one with no hassle so I can't say anything bad about them either.Comment

I forgot to mention that a friend bought a 65 inch TV from Costco and it started having display problems 5 months later. Friend took it back to Costco, got complete refund, no questions asked and bought a better, newer version for less money from Costco.--- begin sig file ---

Sony often do promotions whereby certain out going models have free 5 year warranties, they sometimes limit this to a few retailers, but it's worth looking around before you buy.Comment

Yes the Sony X900 series is one I will be checking along with LG, Panasonic and Samsung probably in that order just have to research the bells and whistles that I won`t use and or need to minimize the money spent.Comment

One note these battery packs are below 10 volts and the BMS protection board has locked them off from having any voltage on the BMS output wires I have tested three of them so far and voltage is around 8 volts it not an issue because it testing about 9.2 amp hours

Today I bought... I mean friend of mine bought capacitors that I ordered, as the shop where i bought it is too far away from me, as he isn't understands anything in electronics, he just bought it as I ordered. At first shop on their page showed 1800uf 6.3V Sanyo caps, with generic picture and code SY-1800(which isn't correct). After little bit of search I found out that it was WG 8X20 capacitors(p.s found that out before buy). Ok, ordered, next day friend gives me package with those caps and some other caps that I ordered. But... This were NOT the Sanyo WG, these were Panasonic(Matsushita) FL... -
I just bought this device that came in the mail today I put a set of 4 brand new 21700 high current battery on the charger
The charger has four individual temperature sensors for each battery cell
The bar graph for each individual battery cell is very primitive but will give you a good idea of how each battery cell is preforming and I find something odd I put on the individual battery testing machine that gives more details of the charging/discharging curves but it will be quicker to just charge and discharge battery cells that do not have any issues
