I bought three of these Sparkle Power FSP460-60GLC - Computer Power Supply 460Watts recap need

I have bought computer switching power supplies from Electronic Goldmine before and every one of them the capacitors were bloated and or leaking out of the capacitors so I am sure that these are going to be the same way five or six years ago I had bought some 300 and 350 watt computer switching power supply from Electronic Goldmine these are all from FSP brand

Here is the listing for this switching power supply they only had three of them in stock and I bought all three of them

    https://theelectronicgoldmine.com/products/g28149

I have one old computer that I plan on putting one of them in this computer and bring it back to life I just have to find a complete computer case with all of the covers but this is for another day

I have a new board that allows you to see the voltage on each rail that goes between each rail and reads it plus it has a adjustable 12 volts to 0 volts I going to set this up also

Well the switching power supplies arrived a couple of days ago and what do you know it shows signs of capacitors leaking and bloating on the top of the capacitors The quality of these switching power supply are decent but they use the shit-est capacitors they could possibly find this company should be ashamed of themselves for this crap because if they had used better quality capacitors then they would have a much higher rating in terms of quality of there component performance than just overall performance quality than what have now for me personally

On a scale of 0 to 10 and ten being excellent and zero being just plain shit I would give them barely a 3 overall quality with the original capacitors after you replace all of the capacitors except for the main filtering capacitors then I would give them an eight in performance rating and you can rely on it performance and you are ready to go

Well I had some time today to start recapping this switching power supply and of course there had to be an odd ball capacitor UF value 68 @ 35 volts but I going to use 50 volts ones instead of 35 volt ones I have not run into this value just like the 27uf @ 50 volts

This switching power supply has eight 1000uf @ 16 volts ones most of the time you might see 3 to 5 of them but not 8 of them
there are two 2200uf @ 16 volt ones as well

One nice thing about this switching power supply is that it has many different device type connectors which you do not find on most switching power supply you might have 3 different ones if you are lucky but it makes removing the power supply cables very difficult to remove the hole for the cables and to remove some of the capacitors where the wires are was some what difficult to do but it can be done with a little bit of patience

      100 of each one
I have to order some 68uf @ 50 volt ones
I have to order some 27uf @ 50 volt ones

      20 of this one
I have to order some 1000uf @ 16 volt ones
      10 of this one
I have to order some 2200uf @ 16 volt ones

I probably need to order some other value than this but I have to see what I have to recap so I have them when I get ready to do them

Well I recapped the switching power supply and used some very old “FC” 1000uf @ 16 volts and one blew its top with in a couple of minutes of use ( unfortunately these capacitors are at least 10 years old or older than that )

The issue is that it has to be 8mm in diameter because there two of next to each other there is also a diode next the heat sink one end and on the other end there is a coil so I to find something that will fit )

When I find something that will work for this switching power supply series wise and diameter wise I will replace all of 1000uf @16 volts “FC” series

Recap an Adjustable Power Supply DC 0-48 / 0 to 10 A going to use it to charge battery packs
          by sam_sam_sam
I have a 24 volt version of the same type of switching power supply but that one I am relocating to meter module and I might do the same thing with this one but I have to modify an enclosure that is not made for this type of switching power supply in fact I am not sure exactly what type of switching power supply it actually fits because none of one's that I have the screws holes do not line up and not even close but the switching power supply fits in the enclosure

So I have take out the switching power supply board out of its enclosure and drill the hole so that it can be mounted...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
          by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
          by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
          by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

External hard drive/cd rom enclosure-printer port interface recap power supply board
          by sam_sam_sam
I going to modify the enclosure to except the new USB 3 interface
The 3.5 enclosure do not have internal switching power supplies and use a small switching wall wart power supply really

I need a cd rom drive for my new computer and do not want to use a 2.5 cd rom drives

The switching power supply in the old enclosure has nice heat sinks and has a cooling fan in the enclosure that is the main reason why I want to repurpose for this project

          https://www.ebay.com/itm/231205428647

I will post some pictures of it when I get the usb 3 to IDE...
