    Electronics simulation software suggestions

Good day folks, hope I'm posting under the right section. This might be too generic a question, but I'm looking for some advice concerning a "good" electronics simulator...I know there are quite a lot to choose from and normally I'd refer to the internet for such a topic, but I'd like to hear some personal opinions rather than generic descriptions some website gives. What would you recommend that's both comprehensive and rather easy to use ? Cheers

Try playing with some of the free simulators and see what features you need vs. the features you want. Generic schematic simulation or PCB layout with simulation. Analog, digital or mixed signals are completely different animals. When you get up to the HIGH frequencies you need to start looking at physical conductor design of interconnects between devices

Hi DannyX. have a look at the link below and see if there is anything suitable there, I have used EasyEDA for some basic circuits but it is extremely powerful and has lots of options & a very good Simulator, the website also features User projects and circuits, best of luck

Spice is very old and awkward to use. Engineers get ok with it but I don't know what is simpler for beginners.
LTSpice is free and quite good, used in schools and a lot of help on the Web. But still a pain sometimes.

Artist seeking to tinker with electronics safely
          by Hypersapien
Howdy folks! I'm an artist in the video game industry, and my job entails making a lot of mechanical and sci fi assets. I thought it might be a good practice to start disassembling some electronics to be more familiar with how real electronics are manufactured and assembled, which is how i found my way to these forums.

When I started researching what tools I might need, I quickly encountered the warning "Some devices can maintain a potentially lethal charge in their capacitors, even up to years after last being powered on", which was enough of a scary thought for me to...

General Question- Electronics from 70's and 80's
          by proton32064
I have a question since I am new here and I don't know if this is the right forum to ask these questions or if I am wasting your time.
I am 67 and have a lot of Radios and Electronics I grew up with which puts a lot of them at 50 years or older.
A lot of the capacitors are obviously bad but this is my problem.
An example would be the Panasonic RC-7469 Clock Radio and the Panasonic RF-888 Radio.
I have others like a Canon L-162 Nixie Desktop Calculator 110AC, etc.

I have the Service Manuals to some of these and other electronics I have and grew up with and...

Electronics failing when supplied with lower voltage
          by Adenitz
          Hello guys,
recently I watched Richard's video on YT (Learn Electronics Repair channel) with an explanation why lower input voltage than rated can also kill electronics components.
The vide can be shown here.

Now, I would like to learn more and I'm not sure that I understood exactly why this is happening.
It is clear to me that PWM chip will keep MOSFTES switched On longer (duty cycle is longer) and that they will dissipate more heat. I think this is not the main reason because MOSFET can probably work switched on for a long time. It is also possible that output...

          Electronics Books
          by Galindrada
          Good evening team,

I've been trying to learn electronics since the beggining of the year. My main goal is to fix broken consoles/laptops. It has been a very fullfilling journey and fortunately I've found my way around and I've already fixed a few of them.

While there's a lot of info online (this forum as an example) I would like to gather a few suggestions about books on electronics. I've already attempted to read a few ones, but to be honest I haven't found anyone that suits what I'm looking for. As an example "The Art of Electronics" is amazing, but there's...

OLD Socket 478 custom bracket + NEW generic cooler
          by BleedCap
I already posted this on vogons.
Its a 3d printed custom bracket for socket 478.
I used this AM4 bracket as a base design.
Its to be use with cheap generic clip based cpu cooler.

          Reason for doing this is:
          - Its hard to get/find a good copper base cooler. Even if you find one, the price is ....
          - New generic cooler is cheaper and can use bigger fan (less noise)

I tested the bracket with cheap chinese horizontal cooler + fan taken from CM hyper 212 evo.
The processor that I was using is P4 2.4Ghz prescott....
