Hi diff,
you very kindly replied to my original thread in relation to component identification
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=794241#post794241
I have located both components, just a query on the A04407A, The new one is marked 4407A and underneath that BV9L28, the faulty one is marked 4407A and underneath that what looks like GA4FBK, stupid question, what is the significance of the secondary marking and is it safe to use the replacement that i have, i have searched the net but just getting spec sheets for the 4407A in general, have done power jack,...

• Dell XPS One 2720 AIO Black Screen

Hi Guys, I have a Dell XPS One 2720 AIO with a strange problem, more often than not when i boot up i get a totally black screen, no Dell splash screen, i have discovered that if the PC is left on for approximately 20 mins or so and i press the Keyboard or Mouse the login screen appears and the PC works fine until turned off again, I suspect that the problem may be related to the onboard nVidia graphic chip. I have tested the Ram out of system and its fine, i have tried booting with H/D, DVD disconnected, no luck, I have removed the CMOS battery and left the system sitting unplugged over night,...

• Re: Solder Wire v Solder Paste?

Tanx for the tip with the Blood Pressure Compressor stj, look forward to trying that out soon, i completed the job fine with the paste and Hot Air gun, no probs at all, i used only a small flow of air as i was afraid of blowing the paste all over the board, melted very quickly and wow what lovely shiny Solder joints, lol, was also concerned that joint might not be as strong as normal solder but concerns soon disappeared, many thanks again one and all your excellent help.

• Re: 900M J Tip

Slydder, i have purchased similar replacement tips on ebay, they are very cheap but have worked fine without any issues, i've been using a fairly wide tipped one regurlary for 3+ months and its still working grand without any sign of wear. I have another set on order at the moment as all my spares seem to have disappeared into a black hole, hope to have them next week as i have a repair to do and fore mentioned wide tip is too big, cant go too far wrong at the price

• Solder Wire v Solder Paste?

Hi Guys i know Solder Paste is generally used in Surface Mount technology & Reballing but could it be also used for general Soldering ie. Power Jack on Laptop Motherboard, is there any advantage/ disadvantage to using the Paste?, i'm waiting on replacement tips for my Soldering Station, should have them midweek but have a fairly urgent Power Jack repair to do and have access to Paste and a Hot Air Station, can also borrow an Iron from a friend if its a better option, thanks in advance

Hi EasyGoing1, he quiet possibly could have said Docsis 3.1, either way i'd never bleedin heard of it, new Router installed, massive speed increase, registering a steady 228mps so well pleased with that, my porn library will increase with lightning speed now i can tell you, lol. Many thanks again for all your input, if you ever need fixing up with a strappin Irish girl let me know and i'll see what i can do for you

totally agree stj, sites such as Youtube are great but for every good video posted there are 100's of particularly bad and some even very dangerous ones as we've seen.

• Re: how NOT to do a recap

Good posts guys, I've been using Antec PSU's for PC Replacments for the last 4-5 years, only ever had one come back under warrenty, whats your take on Antec branded PSU's, They are a very solid build, and were recommended to me by another Technician, I've never had to do a recap so i dont even know if they use quality Caps in the build or not, must check it out when i get time, tanx guys

• Re: Dell inspiron 15 N5050 screen goes blank

Passete, any chance that it just something as simple as a dodgy screen cable, i've come across numerous laptops with similar issues, sometimes screen distortion & flickering but have had one or 2 that does exactly as you mention,I had a Toshiba Satellite C660 in about 3 weeks back, worked fine but intermittently screen would go black just as you described, closing the screen approx 3/4 of the way down and the screen would come back on again. Changing the screen cable sorted the issue, you could also try upgrading Display drivers or...

• Re: Cat5 Capabilities

Haa, haa, both unfortunately, steer clear & enjoy the easy life. Contacted my ISP today and was informed that my Router should have been upgraded last September when my package was upgraded, apparently my current Router is not Docsis 3 compatible, never bleedin heard of it but apparently the new one will solve all my issues, i'll reserve judgement until its up and running though, support guy seemed well clued in which is a surprise to say the least as i've been in contact 2-3 times before in relation to the same issue and the fuc*ers didnt have a clue,...
