• Re: JVC LT-55C870(B) Corrupt Software??

I am trying to get software for the bad 17MB130E (from the LT-55C870(B)) which doesn't boot, so no updates through the menu or OTA updates are possible.

The other 17MB130E board is being used temporarily, only to test the panel and backlighting. I don't want to update this board as it is working (mostly). I did try an OTA update for this board, to see if it would improve the functions (Netflix not working and no HD channels) but no software was found.

• Re: JVC LT-55C870(B) Corrupt Software??

So it seems anything which requires a HD signal will not work. It seems very slow to start up and takes a good minute to connect to the Wi-Fi.

Can anyone help with the firmware for this JVC LC-55C870 with a 17MB130E mainboard?

Thanks in advance

• Re: JVC LT-55C870(B) Corrupt Software??

So, I acquired a main board 17MB130E from a JVC LT-43C888 which is also a 4K panel but a different type of course.
I wanted to see if the panel was working and backlights were OK

To my surprise , the TV boots and is functioning as expected with a digital signal, but doesn't find any terrestrial HD channels.
Netflix will load to the Home Screen but upon playing a program it gives error tvq-pb-101(8.1), which is something to do with data on the streaming device. I had signed out of the previous account without trying...

Dear Promo7uk,

I tried to look on your server link which you posted in the eprom dump sticky but it does not work for me.

I posted a request https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1279035#post1279035 but have not heard back yet.

I was hoping you may be able to assist with software or firmware which may fix the issue on my JVC LT-55C870.

Thanks in advance

Regards

• JVC LT-55C870(B) Corrupt Software??

Hi,

I have a JVC LT-55C870(C). All that happens upon applying power is the red led flashes slowly (1Hz).
If I hold the OK on the remote while powering on, the led flashes at 2Hz, but without a USB Device attached, it obviously does nothing, no screen or backlight.

Any thoughts on this being corrupted software?

Owner says the TV experienced a power surge.

If software is a possibility, can someone point me in the right direction to download the correct software. Is there a procedure to force software to load from USB?

• Re: Opening the LG 25UM58-P Monitor

I too had difficulty in getting the case to disengage from the clips.

My suggestion is to remove the stand, then the two screws which hold the lower front bezel in place. To remove the bezel, start on one end, and pull out about 15mm, then slide a plastic ruler between the screen and the bezel, about 100mm in from the screw and push down (opposite direction to the top of the screen) to release the first tab, then do the same about 60mm from the IR receiver/ on-off button unit in the middle, and push down. This should release the...

To confirm, I should mask just ONE of the FOUR lines you have marked, and isolate them on the T-Con socket ribbon cable, using insulating tape, and not cut the tracks on the t-con or the buffer board.

What do each of the four tracks do?...

• Re: Toshiba (Vestel) 50UL2063DB - bad COF?

IPA evaporated before reassembly, and only small amount was used

COF6 on buffer board, picture attached.

I did a naughty thing - I fitted the right side ribbon, but did not close the retaining latch.
I powered up, and had left side only (as expected - good quality image) and while still powered with an image showing , I closed the retaining latch for the right side - naughty I know!!. This gave a good full screen picture for about 5 minutes! So the TV is capable of providing a good picture, for short...

• Re: Toshiba (Vestel) 50UL2063DB - bad COF?

Thank you yokoono for the firmware, I will give it a go.

@Diah:I did release the lower edge of the bezel, to expose the right side COF connections to the distribution board.

There were some deposits (see picture) on the COF towards the centre of the screen, which is the first COF. for the right side distribution board, which I have removed with 70% IPA. All others are clean.
There was no improvement.

Something I have noticed (when I am
lucky enough to get a full screen) is that the dc-dc...

Here is a thought, I have a Panasonic TX-48CX400B: see this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1079548.
This TV didn't get fixed and still has an issue with the display. I dont know what screen type it has, but may be worth a try with MB/Tcon? - I need to find out what MB is fitted first. I know TV is UHD and 3D compatible. I am very doubtful it would work, due to age difference.

I know that the screen in the Panasonic has side COFs.

As another test, I have a 43" Toshiba...

• Re: Toshiba (Vestel) 50UL2063DB - bad COF?

The 40" JVC MB130S was removed from a TV with a broken screen two years ago, and screen was recycled, so screen is not available to me anymore.

Even though panel config is unusual, this does not prevent correct operation on some occasions.

If I backup all the files you suggest, how do i view them, like you have shown?...

As the JVC MB and t-con dont work in the Toshiba is there any chance the Toshiba MB and tcon will work in the JVC?
the trouble is, the screen of the JVC is more cracked now so it is difficult to see anything on it.

I will have a go with this tomorrow, to see if Toshiba works in JVC.

I have successfully taken a number screens out of TVs in the past, (mainly Vestel ones) which had two part plastic bezels, which clips to the metal chassis (as you will already know), which are quite easy...

Dear Diah,

I sense frustration from you, as I am reluctant to potentially destroy the screen just to look at the ribbons.

Please understand, I am not a professional like you, I do this on an occasional basis, not daily like you, so I want to try everything else I can, before I risk the screen, especially as I cannot see any option to repair the screen if I do take out, and find an issue.

If I do take the screen apart, what will I learn ?

Either:

ribbon connection IS...

• Re: Toshiba (Vestel) 50UL2063DB - bad COF?

Thank you the information and advice.

I can inspect the Tcon and MB LVDS connections. The issue is the same with the two different (compatible) t-cons I have.
I have been experimenting with pressing the Tcon LVDS connection, but I cannot reproduce the issue, so for now, I think I must look elsewhere.

I haven't been pressing the screen connection ribbons.

Advice? Any voltages to check? Oscilloscope waveforms?...

• Re: Toshiba (Vestel) 50UL2063DB - bad COF?

Do you think the Toshiba screen will have side COF when the JVC does not have side COF? They are similar screen numbers.

I did consider taking the bezel off the Toshiba, but I am worried that I will crack the screen, as the bezel is very tightly fitted.

By blocking signals on the t-con ribbon socket, I can prove if the screen can work at all without risking damage by cracking the screen.

If I take the bezel off, and find that the COF ribbons on the bottom of the screen are faulty,...

I will try to block (using insulating tape method) TP1, POL & POL2.

I have attached a photo of the top left corner of the JVC screen, after removing the bezel, showing there are no
COF on the edge of the screen.

I see VCOM_L and VCON_R on the T-Con. Can I try to block these signals?...
