Sunlight hits the strips, which are made from polyethylene trash bags, and is converted into thermal energy.

Kinda neat. It's from Popular Science Feb. 1980 article! The future looked so good in that magazine.
I guess the theory of operation is the stretched-out strips of polyethylene (from garbage bags) shrink in the heat and stretch in the cool (shade). So the whole rotor is warped and you get 50RPM.Comment
