Re: Full wave rectifier vs bridge rectifier?

This car Amp I use my PoorMan's ATX power supply keeps cutting off the ATX power supply. I will need more current for start up the Car Amp.

PS: In the picture show 0.2A but the surge current keeps on cutting the ATX power supply? With the one I just fixed, Amp. works flawlessly?

try NTC resistor to slow down power up .

"two large 5W, 10 ohm resistors in series with the positive and negative supply, after the rectifier bridge. Over each resistor, a relay was added." Good idea!

My Poormans ATX power supply 12 v rating is 14A, maybe the ripple protection circuit too sensitivity.

        PS: Look this one 12v 150A. (pic1)

          my room heater is 2kw
better to use atx to keep car battery charged up .. then amp should always start up if you dont run it for long

Very good idea, I Can put three 18650s or any small 12v battery connects to the 12v output terminals of the ATX power supply, acts as A big capacitor to absorb the surge current.

car amps are expecting a large reserve supply . big capacitor might do it or lipo battery ..
atx supply is weak link here .. be gentle with it ..keep the bass down and use high ohm speakers . i used to run everything from 12v for years then i got mains supply again .. 48v supply is much better .i will go for that if i lose mains again .

You just do not tie the output of all the supply together:

Re: Full wave rectifier vs bridge rectifier?

Thank you again , It is not as easy as I thought! Using microcontroller ADC controls monitoring each power supply cc/cv then each AC Adapter needs have digital control CC/CV.

Because of Load balancing............. 2 low-value resistors (like 0,1 ohm) in series with each power supply and connect then after the resistors to balance the currents through the 2 PSUs…

Basically, if one of the power supplies will go into constant current mode [CC] then if you set it’s voltage slightly higher than the other one, the supply that is set to the lower voltage (say 12.0V) will regulate the voltage, and the other supply (set to, say 12.1V) will go into CC mode and simply supply the rest of the current required (because, it will supply it’s maximum current (or if it has a current adjust, then it will supply the current it is adjusted to)).................the diode idea might work

So we make isolate the two power supplies output using a high current schottky diode in following manner.

remote sense, CV or CC mode, even analog programming. Auto-tracking allows multiple supplies to track the master, the slaves can have the same output characteristics or can be configured to be proportional to the master.

That output stage is a bit naughty, no seperate emitter resistor for each transistor, the transistor with the best gain will be working harder than the rest :-(

I'm in the midst of reparing a battery charger in work which went pop, The bridge rectifier has shorted and took out a couple of other components. The rectifier in question has a part number KPB305G, and it looks like it's obsolete. Does any one know what I could replace it with?...

                                Hello

My Fujitsu Esprimo Q556 motherboards blew up. At least fuse, bridge rectifier and capacitor got damaged. I have changed fuse and bridge rectifier (DF1508S), but I don't know what capacitor it is (picture). I know that capacitors size is 47nF, but I don't know other specs for it. Can you help me to choose right capacitor for my motherboard?
There is 240V AC on input side of bridge rectifier and 340V DC as output on capasitors side.

                                Thanks....

I have a 40 volt AC transformer that I put a bridge rectifier on, and I wanted to see the input signal and the output signal on the same screen on my scope, so I set one channel up with the test lead on one side of the input and the ground lead on the other side of the input, then I used another channel on the scope and clipped the test lead on the positive side of the output then the ground on the negative side of the output.

When I connected the transformer to power, the wire that was connected between the ground lead on the second channel and the negative side of the bridge rectifier...
