Is there a polarity for this resistor?

and, it says 0.2 ohm... is that correct? that what it should be?

My DMM reads 0.6 ohms, does this mean the resistor is dead?

When you touch the two leads from your DDM does it show 0.00 on the display?

        Resistor has no polarity.
The resistance you read is your multimeter lead resistance.

OK. So when you touch the DMM's RED probe to the BLACK probe you see 0.6 Ohms....This means when you measure, you have to minus 0.6 form what is seen on the display........Then if it is 0.2....you should see 0.8.....minus 0.6 and you have 0.2.

resistor is likely fine .. your meter or leads are in doubt .

Re: Is there a polarity for this resistor?

That's why some multimeters have a button that says REL on them ... clean the leads of your multimeter (ideally use some isopropyl alcohol, but something abrasive works as well, basically to remove whatever oxides and crap is on the leads tips). Then press REL and now the multimeter should ignore the resistance of the wires in your leads. You should get a fairly good measurement of resistance from now on.
You'd have to use the REL button every time, most multimeters don't have memory to keep track of it.

Need help to identify and to locate a 0.33 ohms fusible resistor for power supply
                  by gica69
I have a quad charger that is split into 4 separate sections and one section doesn’t charge anymore. I have located what I think is a thermistor and on the shrink tube it says 125 degrees C. I cut the shrink tube and it's a 33 ohms resistor. It measures a little less than 1/2 inch in length. I am including pictures of it. Please help me identify it. So, it should test at 0.4ohms and probably go up in resistance with the rise in temp. On the board it clearly says R for resistor. But it has to be a special one.
Resistor shows orange range silver gold and green lines.
                  Thanks in adv...

What are the pro's and cons of replacing a 1/4 with a 1/2 resistor same ohms?
                  by Baste
                  Hello,
As the title says. I bought a cheap Asus ROG Strix 750-watt PSU, which was posted as defective. Cables are complete, and the entire PSU is in good condition, of course, aside from being faulty. Long story short, upon checking, there is no +5VSB. Looking at the components, I found a blown resistor. I swear, looking at the bands, the color is pink, pink, gold, gold. I dunno if I'm color blind or this is the way resistors are coded.

Please help, did I decode it correctly at 2.2 ohms (red, red, gold, gold), or what could a pink, pink, gold gold value be? I bought a...

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
                  by jinu_j
                  Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                  1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                  2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                  3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                  4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
                  by mikey5791
                  Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

What resistor ohm will work better to repair this waterpik?
                  by artvandalai
The resistor on this waterpik blew. I changed it with the a similar spec 47ohm 2 watt yageo resistor but it still keeps blowing the resistor. Checking with the multimeter the motor, capacitor, diodes, and thermal fuse all checked normal. Will a higher ohm resistor work better? What ohm resistor will work better to repair this waterpik? This video is showing the repair with a 56 ohm resistor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J7_rV7ui1Y
