    When ESR is too low?

    So, what are your thoughts about ESR, capacitance, ripple currents, general filtering of the capacitors? When low ESR is TOO low?
    Let's make this topic a small FAQ with competent opinions. There is too much confusion about the ESR.
    Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.

    In the application notes contained in the Sanken SI-8000 DC-DC converter datasheet, there was a warning against using capacitors with a extremely low ESR, such as OS-CON or tantalum units; using such units can cause an abnormal oscillation, possibly relating to peak currents through extremely low ESR.
    My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
