FlexBV and Openboardview Confusion

Hello,

Ive finally just purchased Flex BV. Ive been hesitant to purchase Flex BV due to the lack of liturature or youtube tutorials of the program basics.

What i am finding confusing is obtaining the most updated openboardview files.

This github page has the boardfiles available for download, but they seem like they may be out of date. It also says at the bottom that the project has moved to https://openboarddata.org/

The problem when you go to openboarddata.org is that anywhere you try to download files they are all in txt format.

What am i not seeing here?
Are the boardfiles available at openboarddata.org or not?
How do i get the most up to date boardfiles?

You're correct, the old github page is outdated; it was a failed design concept and instead I went with the openboardata.org site.

If you have a recent FlexBV then so long as the server setup is right ( which it should be by default ) then if you load up a board such as 820-00165.brd FlexBV should be able to query and locate the OBData for it without intervention.

The key here is that the filename ( 820-00165.brd ) is the same as the board name that's on the OBData site, namely the 820-00165 part. A lot of distributed board files have needless cruft added on their name. Even if the names don't match though, you can just go in to Board->Preferences and search for the proper board name (820-00165) and you should be then presented with a list of matches that you can sync with.

why not embed the original filename in the metadata or use the SHA1 or MD5 to id the file?
