What meant to say is they are new but I am hoping they are still being used and not obsolete.I was looking on eBay this one chip looks like it is still popular ds1216 going for around 10 to 15 dollars a chip.it says it is a smartwatch dip28 assume it has something to do with taking time on something but more likely I am probably wrong.

Most through hole stuff "is" obsolete now... at least for new use. Some people still experiment with them, alas most people want to do SMT now.

I also do wonder about the smartwatch DS1216s as they are perishable - unless they're datecoded recently their internal batteries may have expired...

those are transformer coupled isolation amplifiers. Shelf Life is not an issue.

I wish I could say the same for my eprom collection...
Since there are flash programmable CPLDs nowadays as well.

Speaking of which I think I have a few EPM5128JC's too that I have no idea what I can do with. Mainly due to not-so-widely available programming software/hardware. Or did Altera finally make it the software free? Things might have changed since I last looked...

i think the "classic" software is now free.
it was always free with torrent / mule anyway.
