    Regulator compatibility

    Good day. I've got a dead motherboard which shows .58v on power switch pins. Found out there's a heating component marked A8805 AEF46. I want to know if this is compatible with L1087G. It has the same function but cannot clearly understand if it has the same pinout or voltage capacity. I've attached the pdf files. Thanks everyone.

    They are both linear LDO regulators, but there are differences.

    Input Voltage: AME8805 max. 7V; L1087 15V.
    Pinout is different on the L1087 unless "A" version
    L1087 likes a bigger 10uF vs 2.2uF output capacitor for stability

    If the pinout and the expected input voltage are OK, I would use the sub.
    Usually +5V input and 3.3V output are what the parts are intended for, unless the laptop battery feeds input.

      thanks redwire for the info. This is from a foxconn desktop motherboard. Its connected to pin no.9 of the 24pin power connector from power supply, 5v standby. The only concern is the pinout. I'll try to check the source board if pinouts are the same.

        The "A8805 AEF46" is a fixed 3.3V regulator ("A") in an SOT-89 package ("F"). This means that its pinout is Ground, Vin, Vout. The L1087CG-3.3A part looks like a suitable substitute, as has already been suggested.
