    Bump proof switch?

I need to install a switch in the trunk of my car. The electrical specs are nothing special - DPDT 3 or 5 A at 12VDC. The problem is that it needs to be "bump proof" - it has to stay the way it set no matter what moves around in the trunk and hits it. Ditto for any car motions, not just normal vibrations, but even a smallish collision. (A big one and it won't matter.) It is going to be "panel" mounted in the plastic trunk linker, so it should not stick out too far.

So far I have not found a solution that I like. There are toggle switches with flip up covers, like this:

    http://www.autobarn.net/plsw26.html?...FQIvaQodBo8A-g

but I don't much like the look and they are really designed for cockpits, and control panels, not trunks.

Perfect would be something where there is a locking screw, for instance, that had to be loosened before the switch could move. (Tools are OK because the switch only changes position when the car is being serviced in a certain way.)

I thought about using a regular rocker switch, and then custom making a cover that screws down over it. That will work, but somebody, somewhere must sell something like this already.

    Any ideas?

    rotary switch is the answer.

there used to be special toggle switches that you had to lift/pull to move but those are very rare outside of the military suppliers.

Here are a couple dpdt switch with cover or you can just get the cover, or there are ones that you need a key to operate

the toggle switch is no good,
the cover only fits down in one direction intentionally.
hard to turn on, fast to turn off!

Missed that he did'nt want that type of toggle. There are those slide switches used on some power supplies for changing input voltage, you need screwdriver to slide them, they look something like this

The sliding voltage range switches are looking pretty good.

                  Thanks.

                      How about one of these?

                      http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/28750-key...-2-lorlin.html

keep the key next to your ignition key and you won't be without it.

                        Micro Momentary Push Switch?
                        by Natob82
Great to be here! I'm a newbie here trying to find a "micro", momentary push switch to repair a Sony "clamshell" video walkman. This micro switch has long since discontinued by Sony, however I hope there are third-party switches of the same size and functionality that I might be able to source to play the same role. The purpose of this switch is to tell the video walkman that the user has activated the mechanical tape eject button, turning that physical action into an electronic signal that tells the tape transport mechanism to open so one can load or eject a video tape. I...

NEC TurboExpress On/Off Power Switch Replacement Help
                        by grimacelord
                        Hello,

I've been working on a NEC TurboExpress and I accidentally got the plastic inside the power ON/OFF switch too hot while doing other repairs and melted it. At first, it would still power on when sliding the switch, but you had to really press inward while sliding to get it to work.

I removed the switch component and tried to gently melt the plastic back so it would work more reliably and all I managed to do was make it worse.

I need to find a replacement On/OFF switch for this, but having some trouble figuring out which kind of switch I need....

Help making a switch work the opposite way with a relay
                        by SluggerB
I have a very small float switch, I'm using in a very small tank. It only fits in one way. Link https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Switch.../dp/B07DZ1J2GB

I want the switch to be open when the water is high, and closed when the water is low. Unfortunately it works the opposite. And since this switch is designed to be underwater, it's all sealed up, there is no taking it apart or hacking it up.

It will be driving a water pump, basic idea, when the water is low, switch closes, which turns on water pump, when enough water is in the tank, float switch floats,...
