    resister value help

I have this resister it calculates to be 91.8 ohms with the digi key calculator. My dmm gives me a value of 0.9 with the rel option on. My meter is a extech 470 model with a fresh battery. What is the right value ? Thanks for any help.

    Re: resister value help

I think you have the resistor placed incorrectly. It should be white, brown, silver, gold, green, which gives .91 ohms with 5% tolerance. Used the calculator below:

      Re: resister value help

      first 2 stripes are 91
dont know how silver translates to 8 unless the foto is poor.
      if it's gray it's 8
so i also make it 91.8ohm and 0.5% tolerance.

      if it is silver,
      then 0.91ohms
but then it doesnt explain the gold band!

      unless:

      it's 0.91ohms
      and 5% tolerance (the gold)
      and 20ppm temperature coefficient.

That gray/sliver line is silver .. So the value is .91-5% My eyes are getting old. Thanks for the help.

looks like white, brown, silver, gold, to me, and that makes your reading of 0.9 ohms correct,

                that maybe a yageo
the green line means it is flameproof and Non-inductive
                (around 6.3mm long would be a NCR50S)
                (around 9mm long would be a NCR1WS)
                (around 11mm long would be a NCR2WS)

looks white brown silver gold for .91

Panasonic TC-P60S30 - no standby voltage
                  by BobbyMJ
                  Hi All,
Wanting to learn some electronics repair skills.
I found a non working Panasonic TC-P60S30 and this is my first project / attempt.

So far I have found a blown cap on the main power supply board.
After replacing it there's still no standby power.

Poked around and found a resistor on the PSUB power supply board that measures open.

An online resistor calculator shows this is a 93k ohm resister.

                  My questions:

                  Is that correct, 93k ohms?
                  Is it a fusible resistor?
Lastly, how do I know what wattage?...

Help figure out burnt up resister values after fireworks(:
                  by sdinelli
                  Hello all
fun times here tinking with the electronics.

Minifridge PSU blew up. i replaced a diode bridge rectifier and one mosfet that was shorted. a blown fuse and the varistor.
( yes i know i should have replaced both mosfets. Im learning)
i didnt really find anything else wrong so i plugged in and got some high pitch sounds and after 5 secs fireworks went off.
                  Two resistors fried.
trying to figure out the values of them. No way to tell but hoping someone can give me a general safe bet based on knowledge of switching PSU's.

                  ive...

Repairing my cable tester. Bad resister?
                  by roveer
I've got a cable tester that has a thing called a super injector. You put it at the other end of the cable you are testing and it communicates with the test set.

It's been giving an error saying that pin 3 is not connected. The test set works just fine (I got another injector to verify). I opened it up and found what looks like a cooked resister (or is it a diode?). It's a board mounted device marked 2430

I googled around and couldn't seem to find this component. Can someone give me some advice on where I could find it or what I could substitute. This pcb...

Elektronika EPOS-73A stuck with fixed display
                  by carlitosbala
                  Hi,

I'm hoping I can get some ideas on what to check in this old (1978) soviet-era electronic calculator I got from a flea market, the Elektronika EPOS-73A.

Got it home and plugged it in. It worked just fine at first, I used it a few times for a few minutes each time, "kid with new toy" style.

Then I disassembled it to clean the plastic case and the keys. I couldn't separate the lower half of the case from the board because cables are tied to it, so during the cleanup one of the cables going from the power board to the main board detached,...

                  Modding HPF filter
                  by madan1
                  Hi everyone.
Recently scored a dead amp from a mackie srm1801 subwoofer and after fixing it, now I'm thinking about a home cinema/party subwoofer project.
Most likely I will use a 15" JBL woofer, which I already have and a diy box.

After reading the mackie user manual, I noticed that it has a 40hz HPF (labeled as "36Hz BUTTERWORTH HPF" in the SM) to protect the speaker from low frequencies. Indeed this seems to be good idea for the intended usage - professional music subwoofer, but bad for movies, where one would expect to "feel" the SUBwoofer....
