Re: Help figure out burnt up resister values after fireworks(:
Hello everyone,
i just wanted to say thank you for all your help.
i ended up replacing the two Fets, two burnt up resistors, a diode, capacitor and
IT WORKS!
I first tested with the light bulb contraption. got nervous because it was making a whine. but bulb didnt light up. so i measured voltage and was getting all of them so i connected it normally and success... been working all week.
THANKS!

Re: Help figure out burnt up resister values after fireworks(:
how much amp fuse should i put in there?
i pulled out a 3A but i may have replaced it wrong the first time.
i have 3A and 15A in stock.
I was able to scavenge the 10ohm resister and teh zener diode.
i have the extra mosfets left over from last time. (in case i failed the first)
Just need to get the burnt resistors. May have to just order them.

Re: Help figure out burnt up resister values after fireworks(:
Base and collector shorted on the fet
pins 1 &2
the diodes in the bridge rectifier are testing fine, caps look ok.
im afraid the resistors in there might be fried. i have to pull them to test.
not getting a proper reading.

Help figure out burnt up resister values after fireworks(:
Hello all
fun times here tinking with the electronics.
Minifridge PSU blew up. i replaced a diode bridge rectifier and one mosfet that was shorted. a blown fuse and the varistor.
( yes i know i should have replaced both mosfets. Im learning)
i didnt really find anything else wrong so i plugged in and got some high pitch sounds and after 5 secs fireworks went off.
Two resistors fried.
trying to figure out the values of them. No way to tell but hoping someone can give me a general safe bet based on knowledge of switching PSU's.
ive...

Re: latitude e5550 - no charge- all battery not recognized as genuine
The adapter seems to work fine and has always been detected in bios as proper wattage.
The battery LED flashes white and amber only when battery is installed. both when charger is present and not
But i found this which only confused me more and made me question adapter circuit

The keyboard and whole laptop functions normally.

Re: latitude e5550 - no charge- all battery not recognized as genuine
Yes all genuine dell chargers.
dat and clk pins both fluctuate from 3.27V - 3.235V
pres read -30mV w/o charger and flat 0 with charger
W/O battery
dat and clk read steady 3.305V
pres steady 3.277V
i assumed when battery was plugged in it pulled down pres to let it know it was there..
PD1 and PD2 dont seem to be an issue. although im not sure what the function of them are.
PD1 had voltage drop of .800V and 1.48V reversed
PD2 has VD of .600mV on OL reversed...Last edited by sdinelli; 11-14-2021, 10:24 AM.

latitude e5550 - no charge- all battery not recognized as genuine
-latitude e5550 all batteries sense as non genuine(ive tried two working genuine and two new non genuine).
-battery led flashing white and amber which indicated non genuine AC adapter. tried multiple bios.
-ive tried multiple genuine chargers
-the circuitry seems to be working fine and battery and charging seems to be controlled by EU2 which is ECE5048-LZY

does this chip have to be programmed?...Last edited by sdinelli; 11-14-2021, 09:56 AM.

Re: 1300W PSU - Help with replacement mosfet
Welp bringing this back.
The 1800w died again, same mosfet shorted blowing fuse. probably bc it was a used one to begin with. lasted 7 months of continues usage, however, so not bad i guess. ill order a replacement.
as for these other 1300w PSU's with the 5Vsb present and failing to turn on and questionable optoisolators, which is why im posting.
Im looking to replace all 3 optos since theyre only $.50 and testing seems to be a pain.
part number on chip is in fact B1745 817B
Looking these...
