    NTC Temperature probe/sensor

Hi Guys, I'm sure most of you know the answers to my question, so please help if you can.

I've got a washer/dryer that doesn't dry, it has 2 thermostats both of which have continuity, it also has 2 NTC temperature probes/sensors (thermisters?) neither of which have continuity. I think the NTC's are faulty, am I right or wrong?

Also 1 of the NTC's connector plugs has both wires snapped off, does polarity matter here?

NTC = Negative Temperature Coefficient, so resistance decreases as temp rises, so room temp should have higher resistance I think?

    Hope you can help.

If open, that is more likely failed. From i test and learn it should show reading on resistance, it is about 4 to 5 ohms. no polarity. maybe the others know better. correct me if im wrong.

NTC thermistors typically have a resistance of 10k or so at room temperature. They are not polarity sensitive, and if you have ones that are little copper blocks with 2 black leads coming out thet are pretty common spare parts. You are right in the temperature and resistance reading.

Thanks guys, just as I thought.

I will pick up the parts on Monday.

Looking forwards to dry clothes, it's a bit chilly here

Ok. I have a fully working washer/drier again

The temperature probes that I thought were faulty actually work perfectly, I had tested them with cheap 830 multimeter I keep at home, I tested them again at work today with my Amprobe meter and they were fine.

The problem was just failed wire connection to one of the probes

The moral of the story is don't rely on cheap & nasty meters.

that 830 meter about $3.5 on my town. btw what resistance reading that you got on NTC?

you forget one thing about moral of the story. always keep the eyes for loose connection or solder joints

Ha, yeah the 830 meter I've had for 3/4 years now, bought 2 for £5.00, 1 blew last year. It usually only gets used for checking voltage on laptop charges, I use the Amprobe for everything else.

As for the loose connection, my only excuse is my stupidness

Forgot to say, the resistance on the NTC probes at room temp was 7Kohms on both.

thanks. im curious about standard ohm values for that components. it looks like the standard value about 10k like seanb advice.

                    Re: NTC Temperature probe/sensor

Hi, one sensor was 6.7k the other 7.1k, the room temp was a cool 15c at the time and as I warmed the sensors in my hand the resistance dropped, so to get a reading of 10k it would have to be very cold indeed.

Of course different sensors will have different values.

These are to parts we are talking about.

it will different here as room temp about 31 degree celcius here. nevermind about standard values. i forgot that we are in the different partof world. lol

AcuRite 5 in 1 temperature sensor replacement repair
                        by CapLeaker
                        Got a new victim:

AcuRite 5 in 1 Iris outdoor weather station not updating the temperature / humidity anymore. The original sensor is a SHT21. Also there are identical other sensor manufacturers. I chose the HTU21D to replace the original SHT21. Both have identical specs. I've had two failure modes with these sensors.
A: outside temp stuck at -40? It's cold here at times in Canada, but not that cold!
B: stuck at some temperature and maybe updating once in 12 hrs or so.

Easy solution is to go to AcuRite website and purchase the sensor. Right?...

I am a very beginner at tv repairs. I am trying to fix my tv before I end up buying a new one. I do not know names of boards, but I will do my best to explain what I have done so far.
Tv is an LG OLED65G6P manufactured in april 2016. I had a warranty on it till September of 2021. Warranty is done. The problem I am having is when I turn the tv on after about two or so minutes a popup comes up and says the temperature sensor issue, and then it powers itself off. The tv works as designed, picture, sound, wifi, settings and everything, before it just powers itself down.
                        So i did what any...

Meaco Arete One / Deye Dehumidifier not working
                        by CG2
I've got a dehumidifier that has stopped working. Plug it in, press the power switch, and it beeps 5 times. Nothing showing in the display (which is just two 7 segment displays) apart from the two decimal points flashing. The model is a MeacoDry Arete One 18L, which seems to be a rebadged Deye (all the boards are marked Deye). Here's what I've got so far (details in case anyone else in future should need them).

Starting with the power board. Mains power comes in at the red connector top left. The compressor is powered by the orange connector to the right of that and is switched by...

Hi guys, i was wondering, i've got 9Ohms on Vmem, one of the mosfet was shortet to ground, so i've desoldered hi and low mosfets nad still low res, then i removed all of the memory chips, and the resistance is still low, so did you had maybe a card with that low res on memories, and the card was working fine ?
Removed the U1866Q and still without result, i dont have thermal cam so can't see where is hot spot when incjeting voltage.
The resistance on core is ok 0.1Ohm ((Power 0.8V when on)
Resistance on 12V 4K ohms (Power present when on)
Resistance on 12V PEX 4K ohms...

EuropAce EWC 3108 Wine Chiller - Seems like no temperature sensor input
                        by beetle1303
Received this dual doors dual temperature control wine chiller with some unusual issues:
                        1) On powered up, all the electronics seemed to be working properly - lights, temperature settings, current temperature, etc, all displayed correctly. But sometimes both zones will get chilled, sometimes upper zone only, and sometimes lower zone only. The temperature displays will show the correct temperature as it chilled (I placed a stand-alone thermometer inside and they compared correctly)
                        2) However, the chilling does not stop at the set temperature.
                        3) When both zones are chilling,...
