That was a very good article , and I was guilty of banging my tip on the holder.
I have an X-TRONIC 4000 SERIES rework station and all this new tip electronics is new to me. Now that I read that article I think I will be soldering a bit better.

I'll put it under Fair Use... it's a fragment of the magazine, I'm not depriving them from any sales, I didn't deface the cut pages to hide the source or the ads on the pages so it's basically advertising for their magazine.

The author behind this poor article is some one who works in http://www.stielectronicsinc.com/.

They actually sale soldering stuff and naturally they have plenty of good reasons to play with the readers minds.

BTW, he never mentions any manufacturer names, model numbers in the article.

After the Navy, Cirimele began work at the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake. While working in the Soldering Technology branch, he was involved in the review and evaluation of requests for waivers and deviations on sophisticated weapons systems (Harpoon, Tomahawk, HARM, etc.). Ray also was an instructor in the DOD soldering school and taught WS-6536 certification and other classes.

Ray continued to work in the defense industry as a skills instructor and process auditor with Northrop in southern California. While there, Ray was involved in the B-2 Stealth Bomber program. He continued his relationship with the DOD when he went to work for the Electronics Manufacturing Productivity Facility (EMPF) in Indianapolis.

Since then, Ray has held various positions as Training Director and Operations Manager. Ray was the second instructor to complete the first IPC training program and has been heavily involved with the certification programs since. Ray is an international speaker in electronics manufacturing, an expert in BGA rework, has published many articles and as an active member of the IPC has received several awards for his involvement on IPC training videos as technical content advisor.

Basically I did spotted some text in that article which comes close to exaggerations, but specifically today I feel very lazy about commenting those details.
