    The first one is OK. '.1k' is most likely 100nF, or 0.1uF
    The second one ... 100V ... NO WAY!!! That WILL fail on you!

      Is the cap going to be connected be Hot and Neutral? If it is, you need to use safety cap so if something goes wrong it will fail in open mode instead of shorted out.

        If the "k" on the part is actually "K" rather than "k", that is the code for the tolerance, 10% (which means the actual capacitance of the part is .1uF, +/-10%). Definitely use a part rated for AC voltage that is as high or higher than the voltage applied to the fan. Preferably use a safety agency approved part rated for AC voltage that is as high or higher than the applied voltage.

          This online UPS is not detecting Mains 220V AC input, by observation I found a SMD Capacitor (C6 which responsible to operate the relay next to R27) is burnt in 220VAC high cut - low cut filtering PCB.

          I just bought a pair of ADS L810 speakers, which I've heard are some of the best speakers from that time (late 70's) into the early 80's. I was super excited to test them out and hooked them up and I was very underwhelmed by the treble. The treble was awfully muffled.           For those in 220V locales, anyone power their SMPS with DC, and how high of a voltage is okay?
          What kind of PSU?
          I suspect that 240V * sqrt(2) = 340V DC is probably fine because that would be about how much the the primary rectifier ends up with peak voltage. Just wondering, other than input capacitor voltages, can one go up above this 340V without damage? Will that input capacitor be the upper bound?
          Wondering if exactly that, can I feed near 400VDC into bona fide specced at 220V SMPS without damage?

          Hello everyone.
          So basically the question is in the title - is it possible to mod a 120vAC switching mode power supply unit to work with 220-240vAC?
          The particular unit is the one from the photos.

          It looks like someone ignored the 120vAC label and plugged it in 240vAC. According to the user - "it every time tripped the fuse".
          The only visible damage is the high voltage smoothing cap, which has vented quite energetically ( everything above it is sprayed with goo ), but did not explode.
          The thru-hole components on the primary side measure fine...
