    Assembled in Mexico

    Hi to all!

When I was in technical school my teacher always told us that whenever we encounter any electronics device to be repair that is assembled in Mexico to always start re soldering the components because of the poor solder between components and board.

For my limited experience i can say it's mostly true.

    Any thoughts on this.

Did it apply to the SMD soldering too?

      He never mention SMD.

What he did mention was all the boards done in Mexico with wave soldering.

My teacher was a 6'2 250lbs US NAVY technician (there is no such thing ex-navy).

If he was wrong I was not the one to correct him

I will disagree regarding such issues, Mexico was the first country that the American industry use before starting to use China as main source.

Even HP have a factory in Mexico, and they were making refurbished PDA, I got one of them before six years, still goes strong.

SONY assembled in Mexico their famous G-420 CRT monitor, my G-420 was assembled in UK. ( European stock)

Many significant brands did use Mexico, but if you do shopping for cheap stuff then this is another story.
