    Deciphering date codes...

    on General Electric clock radios.
    I have 2 GE clock radios with date codes of "1210" and "1114". Can anyone tell me when they were made or how to decipher them?

    "1210" = year 2012, week 10th (about mid March)
    "1114" = year 2011, week 14th (about mid April)

      Umm, that can't be possible. For one thing, I don't know the exact year, but the clock with "1210" was made sometime in the 1980's based on the styling.

        We use this number system (16 digit, the other are for serial numbers) where I work, unless you know for sure that these number are not for something else, or there are more than just 4 digits system.
        Some company may use first two for the weeks, and the last two for the year.
        There is really no standard, beside they they may also have 12 years cycle or 10 years cycle on the code.

          Open them up and look at the date codes of the components inside (particularly ICs). That may be a better clue as to when it was made.

            Maybe 121st day of 1980
            And 111th day of 1984

            I see that type of dating on GM ou Delco parts sometimes.
