black and white magnilink to color

    Hi
I have here a Magnilink penguin
    http://www.professional-vision-servi...oduct-mlp.html
it's black and white, and I was wondering is there any chance to make it color
    by switching it's Tube?

It's alittle beaten up, but works fine and offers a nice help with electronic repairing, but I would love to make it to show color, as it's easyer to work with.

The source of items to change it, is almost endless, I have heaps of electronics components lying around and brought to me everyday, so it should not cost much

And the other thing I would like to do, well it's just for funn, I love looking at stuff magnified, so I was wondering if I could some how increase it's magnification?

A color TV needs quite a few extras compared to a B/W to show color. Apart from the tube it needs a new synchro IC (also known as "jungle"), a new flyback, a new processor... basically a whole new board.

You could on the other hand try to hack into the optics and display the magnified image on a color monitor, because the magnifier has some sort of CCD sensor which enables it to be viewed on that little b/w tube. Easiest solution would simply be a digital camera mounted in the right place. And you could simply use the LCD of the camera for viewing, or use a camera with video out and display it on a bigger monitor and do away with the tube entirely.

Yes, a digital camera and an LCD would be the "modern" solution.

hmm ok, I thought I could just switch the magnilink "TV" out and get it replaced with a color TV instead, with all the circuit board and stuff, but hey what do I know, hence I came here for help and suggestions :P

well I might have a computer LCD lying around that I could use.
I haven't checked it out on the inside yet, but I thought it had a "plug" from the "camera/view-port" to the B/W TV,
like a camcorder connected to a TV,
that way I would only need to change the TV and keep using the current "camera"

I'm sorry if my post sounds nonsense or full of yiberish, but this vocabulary is new to me and wasn't tought in school
so i'll try my best to make it sound right

A color tube runs on higher anode voltage.

@ playman: If you have a color set that fits you could give it a shot, however, to be competitive in price, the CCD sensor itself might be b/w too and you'll find out you worked for nothing. The best idea is still patching a digital camera to the lens assembly.

But that would have to be a expensive camera, to get a decent picture quality right?
I mean I just can't plug in a USB camera and expect the same resolution.

Well, a webcam won't exactly be optimal, but any cheapo digital camera should do.

Is there any way to determine by those pictures if it's enough to replace the tube to get color? or if I could connect a LCD with out much hasle?

Also the only connection leading to the main board is the Orange one.

the magnifier probably does not output color.

I'd leave it alone, it will be a difficult task to replace the CRT with a colour one

Replacing the magnifier with a camera and the CRT with an LCD would probably work but why bother doing that, just get a camera and connect it to your PC.

In either case you might as well just leave it as is

                            Hello,

Asus rog strix scar 17 G733QR
My Asus laptop started flickering from time to time and more and more in last months. First the screen was going black but sometimes if I moved the screen it would work again, other times I needed to plug/unplug the laptop or close and open the lid to make it work again.

In last days I see that if I move the laptop lid to about 45 degrees it will flicker or get white or black screen(it's random, sometimes white sometimes flickers etc). I was trying to troubleshoot it myself but seems like it's either the cable or the display....

good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...

Wondering if anyone has addressed an issue with the SHARP 70” LC-70UD27U having thin black and white lines running from left to right horizontally on the screen. I snagged this TV set from a neighbor since I have been successful in repairing numerous other TVs. I assume this probably happens to other TV sets and may have been addressed in another thread. If so please point me in the right direction.
