    Best tips for Weller WMRP?

I'm looking at getting some new tips for my Weller WMRP for micro soldering. I currently only own a 0.8mm conical tip, which leaves a lot to be desired when soldering pins etc. I'm probably going to get a bent chisel 0.8mm (RT5), for better access in crowded areas, but what else do people have as their favorites?

No one? Could also be for other soldering systems, its just the shape of the tip that would be interesting to know.

In general, conical shaped tips are terrible. They are too thin to have decent heat transfer, they can't keep hot once touching the work unless you set the iron's temperature way high and even then it's a disaster.
If you're soldering larger through-hole headers and such, use the biggest tip possible. WMRP is a micro-iron, I would not expect it to do everything.

we talked about tips a lot here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67800

i love conical tips, if you cant get the heat then your not using a cartridge system

for the speacial hard to reach places i use a curved conical,
and for big cleanups with desoldering braid i use a knife-tip

Old Weller 100/140 Watt Soldering Gun
          by clearchris
Someone gave me two of these 100/140w weller soldering guns. Yes, I know it runs current right through the tip, but might be nice to really get some heat into some big wires that need to be soldered.

So, worth a place on the bench, or chuck it?

          Tips when soldering U6960/TPS62180
          by aed040
I am trying to fix my macbook.

Can you give me some tips when replacing the U6960 chip.
What Hotair temp and fan speed do you use?

How long do you usually wait before you can remove a chip? Ive been watching repair videos and they can easily remove a chip after a few seconds but I've been heating the part on a test board for almost a minute and it wont budge.

Does a really good flux help in melting the solder? I am not sure if my amtech flux is fake that is why its taking a long time.

The flux is also being blown away from the...

Soldering flex cable - tips & tricks
          by Prott
          Hello fellow badcappers,
I have to solder a MacBook (A1708) screen flex - one of the two data flexes got slightly torn (2 broken traces). I've seen some videos on youtube where people scrub the coating and then simply apply flux and solder to the exposed copper traces (and then run a jumper wire). However no matter what I try the copper does not take the solder at all - the more flux I add the more it actually stays only on the iron itself.

I am practicing on a spare flex cable and it's gettiing quite annoying - to a point I am actually thinking I have to be doing something...

Elitebook 840 G5 Bios Chip Soldering Question
          by Azurain
          Hi everyone,

I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.

Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times...
