    EVB meter little help please?

Hello long time reader first time poster... yadda

I recently aquired a kit for the EVB meter and while most of the installation has been a rewarding and fun experience i think i might have bitten off more than i can chew!

So far have troubleshooted a few component placement issues myself
    - put the pots in the wrong spots, swapped them... now good
    - put the diodes in the wrong spots (got the mounting positions mixed up with the 4 flat square shaped capacitors), bought new ones, these are good
    - installed incorrect resistor, tested all resistors now all are ok

Currently the issue i have, is that when i have the 9v battery (test leads in series with board) i get a current draw of ~8.6mA.

    Any ideas?

Wrong terminology usage. What i meant to say is that the probes of my multimeter are in series with the battery and the board. haha

Are you saying that circuit is drawing current without you pressing the ON/OFF button?

Can you post a photo of both sides of the board.

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
            by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

UT210E clamp meter amps measurements wrong
            by marce002
            Hello all

I have an UT210E clamp meter that went wrong doing amps measurements in continuity DC, it shows an offset of around 4/5A when first set, (lever at DC 10A) at 2A DC shows fixed 0L always......,,,,,, and also does not allow me to (zero button) , and as i said it is even worse in the 2A !! setting which do nothing and shows "0L"... when you can measure DV in 20A after achiving a ZERO with many RESET ZERO times , you can measure with a lot of offset..... eg 1A current is measured at around 650 mamps, . Similarly, a 4A current is shown at around 3A. |O

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery
            by sam_sam_sam
I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

Changing the scale of an analog meter
            by jorpec
            Hi

I want to change the scale of an analog meter, to monitor the charge of an li-ion single cell, so the needle at the end would point 4.2 volts and the 0 on the meter would point 2.5 volts or so, i tried to add diodes or a zener in series with the meter but the changes of the ambient temperature also changes the voltage value on the meter
I wonder how i can accomplish this so the meter would be precise at any temperature ?

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
            by ttmi100x
            Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

            Upon closer inspection...
