    <Sounds of cheer> The 2GB DDR2 now passes Memtest86+ !!!

    I wasn't able to desolder the MLCC that I wanted to replace...sigh... tested it without replacing it, and so far it works at ddr2-200, whether it will work at ddr2-333 is another question.

        Still fails memtest86+ at 333MHz
        Looks like I have to replace the MLCC... but somehow it simply won't come off the board. Glued on?

        Ugh... this has become the most frustrating solder repair job ever, from finding the error to sourcing parts to actually replacing the bad parts...

                damn a tiny MLCC is a freaking 2.2uF... that's huge for its size.

                    probably because it's only rated for 10v or less

                        Yeah, well, probably 4V, but if the device works at 1.8V, this is plenty of margin!

                        The 0805 resistor pack was replaced, and I could NOT get the cracked, probably 0603, MLCC removed, and since I had that 0805 2.2uF cap anyway... jumpers paralleled onto the 0603 cap!

                        Ok Ghettoly poor job at solder... and I wonder if this still works...

                        Running on my P4 now, and so far it still passes @ 266MHz...

                                Soldered a 30AWG wire to both sides and soldered the 2.2uF cap to the two wires.

                                Still don't know what I should have done to the old cap that didn't want to come off... very risk to pry it off, paralleling it seemed like the best choice.

                                    a blob of solder over the whole cap usually shifts them.

                                        I don't think it was heat that was the problem, while trying to desolder that cap with hot air, I blew away the resistor pack multiple times. That was really annoying...

                                            A bubble of solder and the iron would preform way better, imo. (see above suggestion from @stj)
                                            While heat may not have been an issue (probably was imho), if it's not concentrated on the specific component, with all the surrounding components properly isolated, won't do the job.

                                                        When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
                                                        cutting tiny trace.
                                                        This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.


                                                        Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.

                                                        But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging...

Possibly bad T-Con RUNTK4244ZZ or panel? Could main or power supply cause this? There were 2 blown 560u 35v on power going to backlights but they were still working fine. Thanks for your help.

                                                        Got a case of something new weird at work. There is an old 2nd gen Intel i3 in an old “Pizza box” shell that has a small form factor power supply. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures and model number off it.

                                                        Anyway, I get to work and get to look at this computer. Standby LED on the PSU is on, but the computer won't start. Hmm o.k. take the battery out of the main board try again, nothing. O.k. then… unplug the power supply from the main board and put in a full size ATX PSU (yeeeesss! Exact that blown Powerman IP that I fixed a while back), plug it in and the old...

                                                        Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

                                                        I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

                                                        So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
                                                        Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

                                                        Spent some time downloading the Service...
