Does anyone have info on an Irish firm Oglesby&Butler (Portasol brand) which produce gas ignited solder irons, hot air guns, blowers, breners...for major brands: Weller and Ersa (the same looking of tools but different names)? Are they good (O&B)?

Re: Gas tools
I've been using a BluePoint YAKS1 butane soldering iron from Snap-On (I think it's a Portasol) for many years. I've had to take it apart a couple times to fix its piezoelectric igniter. The igniter is broken now so I start it with a small gas torch. The iron cladding on the tips wear and flakes off. After that, the brass erodes quickly. I have to sharpen the tip when I need a fine point. I have to be careful of the exhaust near components and my fingers. The convenience of not being tethered by a cord and having plenty of heat makes up for its shortcomings.....I think(?!). I guess it's time for a new one. lol

Re: Gas tools
Ask Portasol. Mine has never had a problem.
