Re: Brymen BM867s Multimeter
People buy brand names they are familiar with. In North America, Amprobe, Extech and Greenlee all have presence and mindshare. Brymen does not. Outside of the eevblog circle/world, very few people know about Brymen. Most won't spend $250+ USD on a meter brand they never heard of.
Fluke and Agilent have major presence in North America and they usually make and design their own meters so they don't have to get an ODM/OEM.
I am a turbine controls engineer. These are absolutely awesome multimeters. Greenlee is the authorized direct distributor for these Brymen meters. In the USA you cannot call up Brymen and say I want to buy 12 - BM869s for my power plant. They will tell you to buy the DM-860A from Greenlee. The 860a / 869 are the same, you can tell by the dual temperature inputs that its not an 867.Comment

by madfreakHello, there were probably topics like this, but I need opinions about these 2 multimeters or maybe there is another one on the market worth to buy ? .
I am going to change the multimeter and I do not know if the 2x higher price for Brymen will convert into speed and comfort of a work ...
What would you recommend?
Brymen BM869s or UNIT UT18B pro?
I care about accuracy and security, and the meter will be used for computer hardware.
Thank you very much in advance for your comments and suggestions -
My multimeter has developed this fault, a few months ago. I tried to fix it, but had no success.
The fault is that on the current ranges it never shows 0. Does not matter if the probes are open or shorted.
As you can see from the pics, the offser is the same (just multiplied for other rages):
-4.9 uA
-0.49 mA
-0.49 A
I don't know what exactlly caused the fault.
The meter had a battery leak before I noticed the fault, but I am not sure if the fault was present before that happened. I just did not noticed. The battery leaked... -
by ss45I have a dead bm786.
Inserted new fresh batteries, rotate the switch, unfortunately no display..
Could anybody with knowledge guide where to start probing/ troubleshooting ?
Background : I m familiar with simple circuit, have another working fluke multimeter
Preliminary probing.
Output from linear regulator is normal about 3.5vindicated by yellow arrow in picture, There is 3.5v going into ic which I believe is a microcontroller.
No short found on any caps ...
There are the other 2 ics which I believe to be front end... -
by dj8452000I am new to electronics and I'm understanding most of what I'm reading but I have a mosfet on my board that I've identified as a P-channel Trench Mosfet. I haven't a clue how to test this and what I should expect to see with the multimeter probes. I am hoping someone with years more experience than myself can help me understand how to use a multimeter to read this. Please look at the drawing I have attached to this and can you try to explain to me what I should be doing with my multimeter in diode mode and what results I should expect from a good mosfet?...

by trex66My daily carry just stopped working only me. Started last week with the voltage flickering. Found one lead was broken and I ordered new ones. New leads didn't change anything, it displays “-1” on all settings but on continuity will give the tone when touching. Checked battery and found the fuse blown. Replaced fuse but same results. Cleaned the dial and led display and its parts. Board looks nice and clean no burned or broken components. Nothing traumatic happened to this multimeter I put it aside when I found the lead broken and didn't touch it until I got the neAnyone have any ideas what's...3 Photos
